Hi there! :-)

My name is Afra and I am a 24-year-old student currently finishing up my master's degree. I live in Cologne, Germany, and am of German-Turkish heritage! Therefore I speak German, English (both fluently) and Turkish, although not the best but I can definitely get by, and even a liiiiittle bit of French.

I am studying to become an elementary school teacher, my subjects are mathematics, German and English. In order to finish my studies, I need to complete an obligatory stay abroad in an English-speaking country, which is partially why I am here :-) Besides wanting my diploma, I am longing for new experiences, to be challenged and have a memorable, fulfilling time abroad!

Since I am going to be a primary school teacher, you can imagine that I love and really enjoy working with kids. I have also worked as a child care professional to earn money and experience during university. Additionally, I have been living on my own since 18, so I feel confident in my housekeeping skills and independency, which is why I am sure to be a helpful addition to your family!:-)

I would say I am an easygoing, flexible and naturally curious person as I love learning about other people, their stories & cultures. Number one for me is: respect! Always treat others with the kindness and respect you want to be treated with. So while I am generally open to everything, I am also a person with boundaries and deserving of empathy — just like you.

Some of my hobbies include reading, writing and lots of social activities such as going out to eat, dance, explore, visit museums, being in nature and talking to people!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have years of experience in teaching already because of several internships during my studies. Additionally, I have worked at an all-day school for 12 months which was a lot of fun. My tasks included: helping the kids with homework (grades 1-4), serving lunch and nutritious snacks, occasional baking and cooking as an enriching activity / learning opportunity for the kids, organizing play time, going outdoors, etc…

I’m very good with children and am super happy to have found my dream job!
