The academy is more than just a place. I really enjoyed being part of this. Esma, Seyda, Fatma, and Necip do a great job organizing everything. Working with the children with disabilities here was a meaningful experience. I was able to contribute through play, planning daily activities, and spending quality time with them, which allowed me to connect with each child in a personal way. I also have so many little memories I’ll take with me: walks in the snow, the balloons, the other volunteers who helped make everything run smoothly, Fatma’s delicious cooking, learning new words, the Iftar and just sharing time with the kids. It’s one of those places where you realize that it’s not really about the place, but about the people. The surroundings are beautiful and there are lovely views and walks, but being able to support a project like this is what truly made the experience special. Thank u Esma for your kindness and support.

Volunteering with NGO alongside G, Lysh, and Ruth was a really meaningful experience. The project is centered around community, sustainability, and intentional living in connection with nature and that is definitely reflected throughout the experience. I was there for 2 weeks at the beginning of March with my cousin and would have stayed longer if we didn’t already have onward travel booked. It’s somewhere I would love to return to and I’m excited to see how it continues to grow. From the beginning, especially knowing that we were some of the first volunteers, I was impressed with the communication and organization. Tasks were clearly communicated. The work didn’t feel like work, it was genuinely enjoyable and varied! I even learned a few new skills along the way! I helped with installing mosquito netting, cleaning, painting, transplanting plants, general maintenance, and shopping for fresh produce (while getting to practice Spanish!) The tasks felt purposeful, and the days were well balanced with time to relax and enjoy the space and surrounding area. There were also opportunities to connect with the local community including visiting a nearby farm and helping with market held at the NGO space. I took part in both the Seed to Seed and the Life Diet workshops, which added a really meaningful layer to the experience. I learned about how food is grown, harvested, and returned back to the earth, and how our choices impact our bodies and the environment as a whole. It brought a deeper awareness to how everything is connected and how small, intentional choices can make a difference. I highly recommend these workshops! It’s clear that a lot of thought and intention has gone into not just the space itself, but the bigger vision of what they’re creating and the kind of community they’re building. What they’re creating feels really beautiful and special. G, Ruth, and Lysh are inspiring people to be around, and bring a really positive presence. I felt comfortable right away and it didn’t take long to feel at home. The food deserves its own mention. Everything was plant based, full of flavour, creative, and honestly some of the best meals I’ve ever had. It’s shifted how I see plant based eating. One of the most impactful parts of this experience was how it shifted my perspective. It made me rethink how I want to live let go of habits and ways of thinking that didn’t feel aligned. The conversations, environment, and slower pace of daily life created space to reflect. That shift is something I’ll carry with me. If you come with an open mind and a willingness to be a part of the flow, you’ll get a lot out of this experience. Thank you G, Ruth, and Lysh (and of course sweet Pinto, Luzy, and Shadow for the cuddles and playing.) <3 I will forever be grateful for this opportunity.

I stayed there for a few weeks and had a good experience overall. Rado is a kind host and easy to work with. And Mama, Mama is sooo lovely! The tasks are simple and manageable, and he is quite flexible with the schedule, which makes things comfortable. The hostel is well located, and it’s nice to have the chance to meet people from different parts of the world. The guests are generally very friendly, which creates a good atmosphere in the place. I definitely recommend this place!

Anniek was a pleasure to have in my life. She always has a positive attitude and is mature beyond her years. She loves conversation, singing and interacting with people. She plays her guitar beautifully and entertained at the local care home. It was her idea to entertain and singalong. She completed each task, and used her initiative when I was not about to instruct her. After a few days away tramping, Anniek came back and continued painting my fence. You are a treasure, Anniek.

Dear Wouter and Sabine, I stayed with you for three weeks, and it was a truly beautiful experience. Sleeping in the caravan was something special—I still miss those nights. I carry a very warm connection with Owin in my heart; I can still hear his little feet on the balcony. What stayed with me just as much were our conversations—long, thoughtful evenings about childhood, the world, and meaning. You are both deeply intellectual and spiritual, and I found that incredibly inspiring. I truly admire how you follow your vision and live your dream with such honesty. I always felt supported and seen. Your openness and direct communication made it easy to feel comfortable and to find my own rhythm in the work. And I’m so grateful for the work itself - I loved the mix of building, digging, cooking, and cleaning. And Sabine, your cooking… just wow. Nourishing, generous, and full of love. Thank you for everything. I warmly recommend staying with you. With gratitude, Sophie

Laura was a brilliant problem-solver who could come up with creative solutions for many tasks. She gave us some great insights, particularly with organising our spaces, and was also a strong, capable, and considerate helper. She was also a fantastic chef, treating us to authentic Austrian cuisine, as well as a great conversationalist. It was a joy to host her, and we wish her all the best with her upcoming journey! Mel and Geoff were incredibly hospitable hosts who went out of their way to look after me during a short-notice stay. They provided plenty of excellent food, much of it harvested directly from their own garden, and made a point of introducing me to their family and friends, which I really loved. During my time at their house, I assisted with odd jobs like moving firewood and removing old fences. Mel and Geoff were very appreciative and were always on hand to assist and direct me. They were very generous with their time, with Geoff taking me for drives around the farm to see all their animals and Mel taking me on a nice walk to the Lakes Entrance. I also enjoyed walking their dog, Daisy, at sunset and seeing a koala when they took me for a picnic at the Stony Creek Trestle Bridge. They even provided a bike so I could cycle down to the beach and go for a walk in my free time. I had such a good time and can’t wait to visit again.

Hi! I stayed at Soo's house for a few days because I had to leave for work. Soo and Simon are good and kind, I did some gardening and tidying up around the house. Everything went good, thank you very much!

Sunny was an absolute pleasure to host. She came up with a thoughtful and clever idea to do a trial visit for house and pet sitting, which worked out perfectly since I needed to take a short trip at the time. From the start, she was reliable, independent, and easy to communicate with. She took excellent care of my home and my cats, and I returned to a clean, well-kept space. Sunny required very little beyond the basics (internet access, gate code, and house rules), which made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. On top of that, she went above and beyond by raking the leaves in my backyard; such a kind and unexpected gesture. She is polite, respectful, and genuinely thoughtful. I would absolutely recommend Sunny to anyone looking for a trustworthy and considerate Workaway volunteer.

Well I can confidently say that Tristan is one of the best Workawayers I’ve ever hosted! Such a lovely, well mannered young man who approached every task with genuine enthusiasm and a can do attitude. He worked on my garden for over 3 weeks, pruning, weeding, sweeping and some repairs. By the time he was done the garden was spic and span and once more a joy to wander. He’s a thoughtful, intentional human who is a delight to converse with while also being very respectful of my private spaces. He cooked his own meals and from time to time we shared a meal over convivial conversation. He even did the dishes! Honestly can recommend him to all future hosts with confidence. Tristan thank you so much for all your help. You’ll always be welcome here

I absolutely loved my time here. I highly recommend this Workaway to anyone who is looking for a community experience and interested in learning to create a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature. I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay. I was there 3 weeks and would have stayed longer if I didn't have other travel plans. I enjoyed the work I did during my time here. We did a variety of tasks from painting, to pressure washing, general cleaning, planting, caring for the animals and helping out at the Saturday market etc. The mix of tasks kept things interesting and I learned lots of new skills during it. It was also nice to work with other volunteers. I liked that they would thoroughly explain each task before getting started so we knew exactly what to do. The group always had really clear communication which I very appreciated. Some of my highlights: THE FOOD. Every meal was incredibly delicious and nourishing! The in-depth conversations we’d get into after dinner. Group outings, cuddles with the pups and Pinto (the cat). And the ecstatic dance!! I did their workshops during my stay - the Seed to Seed Cycle and the Life Diet. These workshops offered valuable knowledge that I can use for the rest of my life. I left this Workaway taking with me so much more than I imagined - this experience was personally expansive and invaluable. Such an inspiring group of people and I think it’s beautiful the community they are building. Thanks Ruth, lysh and G :)
