We thoroughly enjoyed hosting Alex & Katharina and would welcome them back anytime. Although their arrival was delayed, they kept us well informed throughout and communication was excellent from start to finish. Once they arrived, they settled in quickly and became a wonderful part of our family life. They are the kind of people who don't wait to be told what to do. They notice what needs doing and simply get on with it. Whether it was helping with projects, household chores, cooking, tidying up, entertaining the kids or lending a hand wherever needed, they were always looking for ways to contribute. What we appreciated most was that they didn't just help with the physical work, they also reduced the mental load. Having people around who take initiative and genuinely want to help makes such a difference. They were genuinely interested in learning about our family, our lifestyle, permaculture, New Zealand, and the local culture. Conversations were always enjoyable and they brought a lovely energy to our home. Their son and our daughter got along beautifully from the very first day. They spent countless hours playing together, laughing, exploring, and creating memories. It was wonderful to watch their friendship grow, and remarkably they never had a single disagreement the entire time they were together. Hosting families is always special, and this family was no exception. They are warm, thoughtful, hardworking people who are a pleasure to have around. Anyone considering hosting them can do so with complete confidence. We wish Alex and Katharina all the very best for the rest of their travels and adventures. We hope our paths cross again, whether here in New Zealand or one day in Germany.

I just got back from my first workaway experience with Louise and I couldn’t have wished for a better stay! Louise & Abby were super welcoming and I loved that they included me in their day to day life - i really felt like part of the family :) The work is very reasonable and super rewarding. It’s a good mix of chores around the animals like feeding, mucking out stables, brushing and lots of cuddles! I also got to do some groundwork with the horses which was definitely one of my highlights. Around the farm I got to help with planting vegetables, lots of gardening and weeding and general maintenance to keep the place nice and tidy. Louise is very patient and specific with explaining everything so it’s easy to get into the tasks and she’s always happy to answer any questions. The animals will forever have a special place in my heart. Each one has a unique personality and I still have a huge smile on my face when I think about Tuxedo finding me anywhere on the farm to get his daily cuddles. Being greeted by 3 dogs everyday was so lovely and seeing the horses in the field from the kitchen window was an absolute dream for me. Like so many here have said before, every dinner was amazing. We even got to taste the first courgette of the year! I also really enjoyed the routine with fixed lunch and dinner times that gave me loads of energy even on very hot days working in the sun (paired with afternoon naps at the river :)). Confolens itself has a lot to offer: from going to the movies, cafés and restaurants to swimming in the river and going on beautiful walks to Saint Germain. I’m so grateful that I got to enjoy the backyard of my dreams for a while! Thank you for everything Louise & Abby! Miss you already and hope to be back really soon! Sending love from Berlin, Laura

I had an amazing experience staying with this family for two weeks through Workaway. From the first day, they made me feel very welcome and comfortable. Lenka is a kind and inspiring person, and I really enjoyed learning about her natural garden and daily life. The work in the garden was enjoyable and rewarding, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn new things, especially about plants and sustainability. Zuzka and Michael are also very friendly and respectful. It was a pleasure spending time with them and sharing conversations about culture and daily life. The place is peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature, perfect for relaxing and reconnecting. I also loved the activities like walking and enjoying the countryside. Overall, it was a great cultural exchange experience. I highly recommend this family to any Workawayer looking for a meaningful and friendly stay. Thank you again for everything!

It was a pleasure hosting Tristan and Sara..! For 2 weeks they helped out in the farm with many tasks. Each task was done with much care and done well - they take pride in doing a great job. We spent time exchanging experiences and stories of our travels. 2 weeks went by too fast - but if you ever come this way again, you are welcome to the farm again.. your village in Malaysia. This couple is is highly recommended..!

It was a real pleasure to host Sarah in the Valley, she showed a real enthusiasm for the natural environment and all its wonders and our interactions always left me smiling. We shared some really deep and insightful conversations and I took inspiration from what she shared. I trusted Sarah with some important tasks and projects to attend to and she showed great commitment and attitude. I was also very pleased to receive professional photo's of the land, Sarah being a keen photographer. Thanks again Sarah and you're welcome to return anytime!

Oh Mackenzie, where do we even start on this review... She's one of those truly nice people, through and through. The kids absolutely loved her and are still asking for her months after she's left. She taught us how to make a fire coffee with our new machine. She was a resting point for the other volunteers we had here and fit in great with the groups we had through both her stays, even though the groups had a very different vibe! She applied herself greatly on any task she was asked to do and calmly went really quick. Overall an amazing person to have around. Our place was not the same after she'd left, but we know she'll be back. Pinky promise to our 5yo daughter, she won't forget! We're looking forward to that moment and we hope you're doing great meanwhile 😘

It is difficult for me to say much about Catherine as she was here for such a short time; she had to rush home to look after here mother who had a bad fall. Her arrival was a huge relief to me as much as her untimely departure left me with a lot to do.That's life!

Jakub and Ewa hosted and worked with us in our home and garden. They are very hardworking, diligent people, and eager to learn new tasks. They were also open to spending time together and are musically talented, which made my time enjoyable. They prepared delicious meals several times and took care of our dog. We would gladly invite this couple back if they are in the area. Thank you, Ewa and Jakub, for your contribution to our project, and we send you our warmest regards.

Leonie and I stayed over two weeks at Nikki and Nathan's lovely place in Nelson. From the beginning, they made us feel really comfortable around their property. Communicating with them was really easy and we could manage our workings hours as we wished (and their work expectations were really clear). The sleepout was absolutely fantastic, big, warm and clean. Sharing time, especially dinner, with them, was always a pleasure. We recommend staying with Nikki and Nathan for sure ! ps : I'll miss your cat Chipie :)

Sophie is an amazingly nice and funny young woman. We've had so much fun hosting her, we miss her giggles so much! She fit in great in the group, even took other volunteers along with her when she went to meet with family in London over the weekend. The girls loved her and loved to play with her. She was always up for a game and always seemed in high spirits. She brings exactly the kind of positive energy you want in your home 🥰 We can highly recommand her to any host she applies to! And we secretly hope that will be us again 🤫

Béla has volunteered with us over the course of 5 weeks and it was a very nice experience! He's a genuinly calm, nice and kind person, making sure everyone's okay. We feel like he was a good support for the other volunteers and fit in great in the group of 7 people we had at the time. He executed every task we gave him with great care and concentration, making sure everything he did was done right. Overall a great volunteer, fitting in great in a group but we're sure he'd also be great to have around when it's just him. We hope to see you again someday Béla!

Juli has a calm and easygoing personality, which makes her easy to connect with. Although she is very young, she is remarkably mature, responsible, and responsible. She spent almost three weeks at our school and was wonderful with the younger children, engaging with them in a fun, caring, and patient way that they really responded to. We would be very happy to welcome her back in the future.

Nelli integrated into our team immediately and showed remarkable initiative from the very beginning. She partnered with another volunteer and independently conducted individual English lessons, demonstrating both confidence and responsibility. She was highly proactive, creative, and enthusiastic in her work. Nelli is deeply passionate about environmental protection and enjoys sharing her knowledge with others, especially children. Despite her extensive knowledge, she remained humble, approachable, and always willing to educate and inspire. The children greatly enjoyed spending time with her and responded very positively to her lessons and activities. Nelli made a meaningful contribution to our school, and we are grateful for her dedication and positive energy and we would be happy to welcome her back any time.

Clara is just incredible! I don't have enough words to express how good human she is. I came just for a weekend and I felt like I am a part of the family. She lives in a simple house, but full of heart for others. She takes amazing care of the animals and also plants, and she has an artictic soul. During my stay I took the dogs for a walk and planted some seeds, hopefully there will become nice garden trees in few years, let's see ;) I enjoyed going together to Montalto and getting to know her friends, family and dreams. Definitely, I recommend you to visit Clara, I will come there with pleasure again, maybe then it will be already in the dreamed house in Montalto :)

We stayed at Billy’s amazing house for nearly 3 weeks and we had such a good time. Each morning we started our jobs at 9am and he had a good mix of different tasks lined up for us. We started with cleaning his driveway of leaves and dirt then in other days we did some weeding, jet washed the pavement and veranda, washed the pups, cut grass and also some general cleaning inside his home. We were always comfortable doing our jobs and billy always made sure we were staying hydrated and having breaks. We had some amazing food while we were there. He always made sure we had enough snacks and supply’s each day and often took us to the shops to stock up. He is very generous and some days even treat us to dinner in some lovely different places! Billy is such a kind and caring man with some great stories to tell! He even owns the world’s sweetest dogs, pickles and keeper. We miss seeing these two happy faces every day! We would recommend this workaway to anyone we know, it is such a good opportunity to experience living in a jungle environment. Thanks for everything Billy! From Liv and Joe
