Hello! I am Jorge, half Belgian and half Capverdean. I'm 49 years old. I have been traveling and living for more than 20 years across Africa, South America and Europe, working on sustainable agriculture development and ecotourism. I live now in Sicily where I'm developing an agro-eco-tourism project, with an experimental dimension, in link with local farms. I produce organic ancient Sicilian wheat, flours, pastas, lentilles, chickpeas, vegetables for my own consumption and olive oil. I use agroecological techniques and I set up agroforestry systems for ecological and natural resources restoration. An other part of my time, I provide advices to international development institutions, on sustainable agricultural, environmental programs and public policies. I'am also active with friend in several local associations ... .

I'm developing agro-eco-tourism activities, with a didactic dimension, in link with local farms. We can visit them, talk about agriculture and desertification in Sicily and taste their products. We can taste local dishes cooked at home with our own production, go eating in small local restaurants and go party with our friends and our local community. I love to go to traditional festivals, dancing with local groups, enjoy live music and discover archeologic traces of the long and passionating history of the region.

I need your help for the environmental restoration activities, which include developing a nursery for forest and agroforestry trees, planting trees according to an agroforestry layout plan; rehabilitating dry stone walls; building wood stuffs (I would like a henhouse, a shelter for the shredder and the tiller, a shelter for storing firewood and for trash cans, ...), creating paths on the property ; gardening, land cleaning and maintenance, ... . I need your skills, your creativity and your colors!

Hébergement
You'll have your own accommodation (bedroom, private bathroom and small living room), you can enjoy the swimming pool, the beautiful river and I can share meals with you, upon my availability. In case I'm not available, you are free to use the kitchen. I live far from the village so it's better if you have your own car for shopping and visiting here around, but if not, I can occasionally lend mine .

Our region is beautiful and offers numerous good activities and discoveries. The Cava Grande reserve is a natural wonder where you can swim in crystalline freshwater natural pools. I'm located 25 minutes away from the Vendicari reserve with its ornithological reserve and idyllic beaches. Photographers and nature enthusiasts will appreciate the diversity of landscapes, birds, insects and flora (depending on the seasons). The baroque cities of Noto, Syracuse, Modica, Scicli, or Ragusa are nearby and offer all the services of a city. Friends regularly organizes recreational activities such as barbecues, concerts, walks, ... and if you love food, you will adore the healthy and natural products from my small farm and our region. I'll be happy to make you discover this beautiful region.
