Hi! I'm Mahesh, and I run a cozy hostel just a 5-minute walk from the surf beach in Weligama — one of the best places in the world for beginner surfers.
We have 5 dorm rooms and 2 private rooms, and the atmosphere is relaxed, social, and welcoming.
Our goal is to create a space where travelers feel at home, meet new people, and enjoy good vibes every day.
I'm looking for creative, social, and motivated travelers to join and help improve the hostel experience.
Everyone brings something different, and I value new ideas and fresh energy! -

Role: Helping Hand & Social Host at Our Hostel 🌞
We're looking for a positive, proactive person to join our team and help keep the good vibes flowing at the hostel! If you're social, creative, and enjoy a mix of day to day tasks and fun event planning, this might be perfect for you.
Your Main Tasks:
💬 Guest Interaction: Greet and meet guests, help them feel welcome and at home
🧹 Daily Hostel Support: Assist with general day to day tasks
🖥️ Admin Help: Assist with basic hostel administration (check-ins, reservations, etc.).
🎨 Creative Projects: Help with painting, decorating, and setting up cozy corners around the hostel.
🎉 Event Planning: movie nights, morning surf and fun activities for guests and invite everyone to join.
📱 Social Media: Create and update content for Instagram and TikTok
🐶 Morning Dog Walks: Start your day with a walk our furry friends Blackie and Brownie.
(Our social season is usually from September until the end of April, when the south coast is more busy with backpackers and surfers. During these months the hostel has a very social atmosphere with daily activities, family dinners, surf sessions, karaoke nights, and community events.
From May to August it becomes quieter and more relaxed, with fewer travelers around. Volunteers joining during the off-season should expect a more calm environment with smaller groups of guests and slower days compared to the high season. Even during quieter months, we still focus on creating a friendly family atmosphere and organizing social activities whenever possible.) -

I LOVED this Workaway! Mahesh is an amazing person and very funny. It was a pleasure to volunteer with him. The hostel is very nice and I made a lot of friends there these three weeks. Olivia stayed one month with hostel and helped with cooking/cleaning/bathing the dogs etc. She is an amazing fast worker. Wish her all the best !!

My experience here was amazing. I was teaching a Yoga Class a day and also helped with cleaning and cooking traditional Sri Lankan dishes. The owner Mahesh is such a great and lovely guy. We had a wonderful time with the owner of this host, Mahesh. He was unbelievable friendly and open to us. During the time we went together to the beach, went swimming in the ocean and sat together the half night at the campfire and spoke about our cultures.

Maheshh is very very sweet,easygoing and open minded guy.we became really good friends.he will open his hostel in a short time and i know everybody love this hostel!this was my first workaway experience.i recommend him to everyone!i will miss you so much:))

Mahesh is such an awesome guy! His two dogs (Browny and Blacky) are the cutest and so loving, it was hard to say goodbye! We had a great time cooking all together, and the nearby beach is great to practice surfing for beginners. We mainly helped painting and cleaning up a bit, can't wait for it to be finished up and crowded with guests!
