The first 3 days would be a trial to see if both parties are happy.

We close mid Oct.
There are other workaway placements in Argyll should the trial not work out.
Join us on the stunning Isle of Mull, a very remote island off the west coast of Scotland.
Located halfway between the main town of Tobermory and the village of Salen.
We have a family run accommodation business, our family consists of 3 generations.
We also have rescue animals on site.
There is public transport that passes our drive or you could bring your own car.
You can fly to Glasgow or Edinburgh, then get the Train from Glasgow queen St station or 'Citylink' Bus to Oban, then the 'Calmac' Ferry from Oban to Craignure, then the 'West Coast Motors' Bus to us at Arle.

We have had many Workawayers from 2019-2026, all have been a pleasure to meet and work with. Please see our reviews.
Tour our island, learn about our culture, live like a local.
After living here most of our lives we can suggest and things to see and do.
We can offer lifts to Salen/Craignure/Tobermory most days.
There is a 1 minute walk down to the shore to enjoy the beautiful Landscape and wildlife, we have eagles overhead, deer on the hillside, otters in the bay.
Hannah may be able to take you gorge walking/kayaking/paddle boarding/mountain biking.

Host has indicated that they will pay at least the UK minimum hourly wage for each hour worked and that accommodation will also be provided inline with UK guidance. They are asking for help with a business or business activity. Contact the host directly via the site messenger for more information and details about the wage provided. Any arrangements should be agreed in advance with your host.
Aide
We would pay £11.10 per hour for every hour worked.
£11.10 is the daily minimum UK wage with an accommodation offset rate.
Around 2-3 hours a day, around 5 days a week. There may occasionally be more hours available if you would like to do more.
You could get a secondary job as well providing it doesn't affect this one.
We need help with interior cleaning rooms and bathrooms to a very high standard, making beds and helping with laundry and folding. As well as renovating and maintaining our properties, exterior painting, washing windows, maintenance, gardening, plant watering and handyperson jobs.
Joinery / landscaping skills would be a real bonus.
We are looking for a speedy and hard worker please.
You would need to have your own insurance.
You would be self employed and we would be paying you for your services.
English speaking essential.
Life on a remote Scottish island, especially in the winter months can be very isolating, peaceful, beautiful, and cold.
Great if you're wanting some alone time.
Bring warm clothes (hat, fleeces, waterproof trousers and jacket and mountain/hiking boots and wellies).

We provide a private room with a single bed, shared toilet and shower and lounge/kitchen facilities. The room has a small window and a private entrance.

Hannah and her family were all incredibly kind, and the kids were super adorable. Hannah often took me around the island, drove me to the store, invited me to eat the vegan meals she cooked, took me to see castles, go to the beach, swim, do pottery, music festivals, and go kayaking. She also encouraged me to take a day trip to Iona, and it was absolutely beautiful place. On my birthday, Hannah even celebrated with me by taking me to a spa, preparing a cake, and singing Happy Birthday to me. That is a memory I will never ever forget, and I’m truly so grateful.
I really love Hannah’s family’s lifestyle and their love for the Isle of Mull. Without this Workaway, I probably would never have visited this place or met such lovely people. Thank you so much Hannah for taking care of me and introducing me to the island and friends. I would highly recommend this Workaway and definitely want to be back again if possible. It’s a bit far away, but absolutely worth it!
Anne stayed with us for just over a month.

This was a great first workaway experience. Hannah and her family were very nice and welcoming, always willing to help me out with lifts and figuring out the buses. Hannah always gave me really good suggestions of what to do on the island, and even encouraged me to go visit Iona for a day which was beautiful. Hannah, and her whole family are wonderful and very friendly. I spent just over a week with her and the family on the Isle of Mull. They all made me feel welcome as soon as I first arrived. Alan, “(Andy)” is really funny and is great to chat to and their baby Hamish is just a delight! Hannah is also a very talented cook and frequently cooked us… read more all sorts of vegan dishes and showed us how they’re made. Her Mom and Dad, Pat and Hazel are lovely, they also help run the lodge, it was great to spend time with them when we could.
Hannah and the family also gave me the opportunity to explore many places around the island such as castles, markets, pubs and art galleries. They genuinely want their workawayers to have a good time on Mull and feel welcome in their lodge.
I was fortunate enough to volunteer alongside Valerie, another workawayer from America. We got to work together and explore different parts of Mull, great company and a big part of what travelling is all about. Pat and Hannah even dropped us off at pubs, film clubs and places for us to explore more of the island.
We usually worked 2-3 hours a day. The work was never tediousness or demanding even when it was just myself. There were a wide range of jobs around the lodge from painting, cleaning and stripping the beds, all of which were often fun. I actually found I really liked painting :)
Mull is beautiful, even in miserable weather, it never stopped me going out for walks. I also got to see Balamory! Where one of my childhood tv shows was filmed on the Island which was really cool! The island is also easy to get to, just short ferry from Oban which is right next to the train station. Overall, it was a great experience and I think it’s a good choice for a first workaway experience too.

Valerie has been absolutley wonderful. She has a really great work ethic. If you need help with pressure washing or painting then she is your woman! She gives 110% to her manual laboring. On Mull I saw the most beautiful side of Scotland. It's like a different world.

Hannah and her family were my first work-away experience and I could not have asked for better hosts. The family live on the Isle of Mull in a beautiful lodge with the most spectacular view of the surrounding coastline and hills. The family are vegan and they take great care of the animals they have on the farm including a cat, a dog and some… read more sheep.
I have helped around the house a couple of hours each day. The work involved painting the fence when it was a sunny day and painting some furniture when it was raining. The overall experience was absolutely wonderful and I would recommend anyone spending a few days with Hannah and her family. On the Island, there is plenty of things to do including hiking, cycling, kayaking as well as there is a swimming pool, a yoga centre and some wonderful pubs in a town nearby. I will definitely be back so thank you all or having me!

My time helping at the lodge may have been brief, just over a week, but turned out to be an incredible experience on Mull and the areas surrounding. Hannah and her family were an absolute joy to be around and very mindful of making sure my time was a positive experience from the moment I arrived. From being taught the fine art of "playing ghost"… read more with Pat to some general aesthetic maintenance work outside around the property, there wasn't one moment where I didn't enjoy myself to the fullest. Most of my work was turning over and prepping rooms/surrounding areas in the lodge which I was rather fond of doing. Any work outside almost didn't seem like work solely due to being able to bask in the incredible(!!) views and surrounding elements. Not only does Hannah and her family provide a warm, positive working environment but the natural environment surrounding made for a feeling of privilege to be an extra pair of helping hands. Sharing chats with Andy with the company of Hamish was always time well spent. Hannah's vegan "fry up" breakfast was easily one of the best breakfasts I've had since arriving in the UK. During car rides, Pat and Hazel were excellent resources of knowledge regarding the local surroundings (history/geography, etc) providing an extra depth of being within the area. All are great company to be in. Mull is incredibly scenic, to say the least, with breathtaking and awe-inspiring views. Pat, Hazel, and Hannah were always generous enough to invite me on group activities, local events and made sure I had time for myself to explore as much as I could in/around Mull. All these moments resulted in memories which I will deeply cherish forever. Truly. If you have a chance to catch the local Gaelic choir perform, do it! If you can make it to Iona, DO IT!! I could go on and on.
Hannah, Andy, Pat, Hazel, and little Hamish, my deepest thanks and gratitude for my week spent in Mull. It was an experience for the record books that I couldn't have ever imagined and can't express enough how fond and meaningful my time was with you all while in Mull.

I stayed with Hannah and AJ for 1 week plus in Isle of Mull and it was truly a great experience! They made me feel welcome from day one. Living with them is not just about working. They were kind enough to take me out to explore after work. They also made some great vegan food and we had many wonderful stories to share during lunch and dinner. AJ taught me how to fly a drone and share his filming equipment with me. The tasks mainly consisted of painting and cleaning and it wasn't that difficult. I really enjoyed my workaway at the lodge. Hannah and her family are very kind, friendly and welcoming people. I was given a few different tasks to do including painting and window washing. Hannah gave me instructions and was available if I needed help. Alice is lovely, it was a pleasure to have her company. She helped us with lots of different things. We would deffo recommend her to another host. We hope to see her again and wish her all the best with future workaway adventures.
I enjoyed my stay with Hannah and her family so much, I definitely will come back soon. I would give six stars if it was possible. :D
Their profile is absolutely accurate, what it doesn't say is that they are incredibly flexible, , they're fun and generous. I got a list of the tasks they needed done and they told me several times I don't have to… read more do anything I don't want to. They took me out on a beautiful walk, to a woodturning class, we had a trip to the beach and played some music together. I'm so happy I got to know them and find friends on Mull. I'll be back soon! :)
Piro is such an amazing woman. She is so clever and works so hard, is trustworthy, honest, organised, good at time keeping, enthusiastic and uses her initiative. She's also great company and we loved having her to stay. We are a bit heartbroken she had to leave us to get to her next host that had been previously arranged.
