Eli stayed with us for just one month during the summer, but she left a lasting impression.
Eli is a very positive, cheerful, and vibrant young woman. She is ambitious, eager to learn, and a quick learner who doesn’t hesitate to take on work.
She primarily helped with housekeeping and in the kitchen, and her baking skills are absolutely

We also thoroughly enjoyed listening to her play the piano in the manor house—it was such a treat.
We had a wonderful time with her and will always remember her warm and joyful presence.
My stay was simply amazing! 🇩🇪
Anne-Laure and Marcus were incredibly helpful, understanding and organized, so grateful to have met such inspiring people. ❤️
The work was fun, although demanding, it was a great experience which taught me a lot. I enjoyed working manually, cleaning, helping in the kitchen. And you never get bored, because every day

With the other workawayers we stayed in a separate house which allowed us to spent quality time together. We also had access to a part of the garden, I loved reading there during my free time!
Though the village is tiny, if you like nature, you'll enjoy spedning your time there. A lot of the inhabitants know a bit of English and are really friendly.
I only spent one month as I needed to return to uni, but I made memories for life. 🥰
Amy and Ismael were just amazing.
They stayed with us for six months and did an outstanding job! Apart from being a lovely couple, they are truly wonderful people to be around. During their time here, they became almost like part of the family. 😄

She helped us with housekeeping, in the kitchen, and with service, and was always greatly appreciated by the guests. Amy was flexible with her working hours and took excellent care of our dog, Onno, showing him so much love, empathy, and dedication. She is probably the most animal-loving person I have ever met.
Amy also supported us with setting up social media, taking pictures, creating reels, and learning tools like Canva and Buffer. She taught me a lot about Instagram 😄, and her German improved steadily during her stay. Honestly, Amy, you should have stayed six months longer! You'd be fluent ;-)
Ismael is a calm, patient, and focused young man, yet lively and full of energy when it comes to getting things done. He is a quick learner and very organized, with excellent work ethics.
We greatly appreciated his organizational skills; for example, he sorted and organized our wine cellar. He also worked extensively in the garden and handled various maintenance tasks. In housekeeping, Ismael was always quick, efficient, and precise. Additionally, he supported us in the kitchen and with service—always with a smile!
Ismael is also a very mindful person. He practices yoga daily and occasionally facilitated yoga sessions for our team, which we all enjoyed. I’m sure he will become a great yoga teacher one day. His understanding of mindfulness is profound and sincere, and he values open and trusting communication, which we deeply appreciated. We learnt a lot with him about mindful communication.
Overall Experience
:
We had an incredible level of trust in both Amy and Ismael. We even felt confident enough to leave the manor house in their care for a weekend, knowing everything would be handled responsibly included Onno and the chickens :-D
Thank you, Amy and Ismael, for your hard work, positivity, and for being such amazing people. We wish you all the best for the future and hope to see you again someday!
We stayed here for 6 months total (31 May- 1 December), before we arrived we had fully intended to stay only 2 months but after just 1 month of being there, we loved the work, people and energy so decided to extend until December. We really enjoyed our daily tasks as they were always varied, this role is also great if you like to be independent in
… read more how you work. Anne Laure is really open to whatever tasks you can bring to the table and will happily use that skill set however you would like to. Anne Laure and Markus were very open and receptive to any feedback we had and made sure to accommodate us however they could! We loved having dinner and playing disc golf in our down time with the whole team whenever we could! The village is small, charming but quite isolated so if you prefer bigger cities, I'd recommend somewhere else, but it was perfect for us. The locals recognised us and understood that although we couldn't speak German, they wanted to have a conversation with us, but they were really patient and super friendly. We were very grateful we had this opportunity and can't thank Anne Laure and Markus enough for opening their home to us and through this role we've truly made some lifelong friendships!

Dani was our first experience with Workaway, and it couldn't have been better! He is an experienced workawayer, and it was a pleasure to have him with us. Dani stayed for three months in Zahren, and apart from housekeeping (he developed quite an expertise with vacuuming ;-)), his most valuable skills were on the tech side.
He introduced me to

Dani also assisted us with the launch of our booking engine on the website, where we truly appreciated his keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Additionally, Dani helped in the kitchen and with service. We loved his great sense of humor and his focused, calm approach to teamwork, even during stressful situations in the kitchen.
Another positive aspect was that Dani spoke German very well, making him an important link to the local German speaking team.
He was a highly valued member of our team, always balancing personal time with social activities. He often explored the beautiful surroundings on his bike, enjoying some time to himself, yet also having fun with the other workawayers and with us.
Thank you, Dani, for your hard work and positive energy!

I had an incredible time (March-May 2024), where I got to take part in a wide variety of tasks like housekeeping, tech, gardening, and kitchen help. On the tech side, I helped release the booking engine so guests can now book directly through the website, and I worked on tweaking the PMS and channel manager for accounting and invoicing. I'm especially glad about having introduced Notion as a knowledge base and project management tool, making it easier to understand processes, set priorities and for future workawayers to get up to speed and collaborate.
Last but not least, we were also invited to local celebrations, which helped us connect with the local community (Moin, moin! :), adding even more to the overall experience. They also borrowed us bikes, so we could explore the nice lakes around. So… if you're looking for a place to connect with nature, improve your skills, and be part of a guest-focused team, I highly recommend.Feedback
