Aide
As a helper and collaborator, you will be offered a tent and board for 24 hours of work per a 7 day week, with two days off. (Or you can plan your hours as you like providing we do not have specific projects needing immediate attention).
Though this job does not require transportation, you may want it in order to get to town. Owners can give you a lift once or twice per week if needed. Owner will be on site most of the time aiding in projects, attending to guests, cleaning rentals, and tending to projects. Sometimes work will be performed together, but other times caretaker will be on his, her or their own. Workawayers enjoy our learning environment, freedom and encouragement to follow through with self-driven projects, and relatively low hour work week with time for fun.
This position requires those with a strong drive to create on and/or amend the land based on his, her or their knowledge, skill, and desire to build something beautiful. These positions last between mid-April through mid-November, but can be flexible as site is open year-round. Useful skills include use of power tools, hand tools, permaculture/gardening principles, ability to lift 50 lbs occasionally, artistic drive in sculpture, carpentry, metal work/welding, stonework, or landscaping. (Owner offers knowledge in these skills if caretakers so desire.) Must be able to work collaboratively and communicate ideas and thoughts clearly. Must be able to take direction and ask questions when in doubt, but have an independent spirit. We are open to all sorts of ideas and love to hear yours!
This is primarily a rental business wherein money made is based off of rental income. Therefore, guests and their comfort must always come first. Guests are generally exceptional people looking for quiet and the outdoors.
Compensation starts at 10 dollars an hour for non skilled individuals.
Job duties include:
-your creative input and execution of artistic and/or permaculture based ideas
-maintenance and some reconstruction or expansion of existing gardens including planting, weeding, harvesting food and inoculated mushroom logs
-tending gardens daily
-aid and creative input on building projects
-splitting and stacking wood in preparation for winter
-occasionally greeting guests and directing them to their rentals
-occasional help with guests should they have questions
-you must bring a COLLABORATIVE spirit to this job. You may have excellent independent ideas and have the freedom to execute them, but making sure the business is running soundly and asking questions when in doubt is key to an excellent stay. This means that owners must prioritize certain projects. However, many hands make light work, and generally business priorities can be taken care of quickly if all hands are on deck.
From here, you can access two large ponds, hiking/biking trails, fishing areas, and creeks with waterfalls. Ample wildlife uses our land as a home and corridor. Though electricity can be had for short spurts of time, this area is off-grid. There is access to the internet via a commercial-grade antenna, but sometimes it can be spotty.Langues

There are various accommodations. The length of your stay and time of year will determine your lodging. We have a yurt, tipi, tiny homes, school buses, a trailer, a caravan, a wall tent, and camping. We also provide a basic kitchen with refrigerator, stove, oven, sink, and cooking supplies. The garden will produce vegetables only at certain times of year.
We offer tents to Workawayers in their own "tent city" where they have privacy from guests. If a rental is available, Workawayers may be able to stay for a night or two, but generally, the business must make income off of our rentals so they need to be rented to guests.Autres infos...
