Please check our calendar for availability :)

Looking for helpers, prefferably with some previously knowledge of horses. Help will be to feed, turn horses out/in, mucking, grooming and helping out with the horses.

Family run farm with 30 horses. The family is mother and father aged 60, with Jobs In town, daughter aged 30, running the farm and three dogs.
Farm is situated 1,5 hours west of Oslo, in the woods at the foot the mountains. Good opportunities to live the outdoor life! Cross country skiing right outside the entrance door and 20min to the local down hill skiing slopes.

Nearest city is Kongsberg. Famouse for the silver mines, good skijumpers and snowboarders!

We can teach you about horses, Norwegian traditional living and building. Outdoor activities like riding, skiing, hiking. The area is very nice for exploring!
Workawayers will be a part of the family.

Aide
We are renovating the whole farm and building up. So there is a lot to do and to help out with!
Key words are: building, tractor, atv/quad, horses, wood, outdoors :)
Ordinary help hours, the tasks will depend on the volunteer.

Accomodation for two volunteers at the time. You will live in newly renovated rooms with your own bathrooms.

In your spare time there is a possibility to borrow a car and to travel the area. We are close to many cultural sightseeing spots, sporting locations and Oslo is easily reachable by public transport.

We expect our workawayers to be open minded, outspoken and willing to participate In our dialy life!

Celia is the best of persons to have around! She easily sees where she can help and starts working all by herself, with the chores she is given and with other stuff she just sees as needed to be done. And she loooooves to bake! Stayed with us for a month summer 2018 and we would love to have her back sometime!

My stay here was an absolutely great experience. I spend 3 months (March-Mai) on the farm and really felt like home. The family is everything of what you expect from the Norwegians as the happiest people in the world :). We had so much fun. We is me and one other workawayer who was there most of the time.
Our day looked like this: got up,… read more breakfast all together between 7-8, then we turned out the horses, fed them and mocked out. Annicken, who runs the riding school, almost always did all the work together with us, so we were quickly done around 11. Then we had freetime. I went horse riding, took a nap or worked on my knitting projects ;). Yes - Annicken and her mom Kirsten can teach you how to knit. I am so thankful, that they motivated me to start and helped me with my first socks and sweater :)). Later we had lunch together. Btw Annicken can make the best waffles :)
In the afternoon we turned in the ponies for the first riding lesson and helped the children to groom them and saddle them up. After that we turned in the horses for the second and 3rd lesson and lastly turned in the horses that stay inside at night.
Then we had late dinner around 21:30 (Kirsten is a really good cook, we had different, very delicious, also traditional dishes everyday) and talked, laughed, had ice cream and knitted before we went to bed. Sometimes Annickens dad gave us nice little piano concerts :)
On Friday and at the weekends is no riding school. The rest of the day is the same. If we wanted to do longer trips on weekends, we just needed to talk about it, to make sure, that there is always someone to take care of the dogs and horses.
Outside the farm I did hikes on the mountains in the area, went to town with my car, went jogging, watched show jumping competitions, visited the neighbor towns and museums or made a trip to Oslo. You need a car to leave the farm, but if you need snow shoes or skis or something, just ask, they can help you with everything. They even hosted my parents for one night, which was really nice. Kirsten made possible that I could visit the local school for one day. That was a really nice experience for me.
Generally I highly recommend this host! Not only because of the beautiful nature, lovely dogs and horses, comfortable accommodation and good food, but mostly because of the warm and open-minded people you will get to know and have the chance to be part of their family for some time.
Thank you for everything!! I miss you a lot.

My month here was a great experience. Taking care of 30 horses is a physical work but when you get the routine you begin to enjoy to be around those big friends.
