Description
Hello, we are a well travelled middle aged couple keen to carry on travelling through sharing experiences and stories with travellers that stay with us and hopefully become part of our family. We welcomed a number of travellers (couchsurfers, hitchhikers) in our days and have enjoyed that a lot. We are busy in house and garden. We have a vegetable garden and a green house that feeds us very well. Apart from that there is always maintenance and painting. We love remembering anyone who stayed with us by looking at their project or the produce that is growing extra well because of their efforts.
We live in Oamaru , steampunk and penguin capital of the world 😀 not too far from lookout point and the botanical gardens.

Aide
We welcome anyone that would love to care for a veggie and flower garden or is house proud. But then there are the arty people. We have a number of projects on the go and coming up. There is painting if you are arty. come and paint a mural, sorting, gardening and a few other projects. DIY skills in every field are more than welcome.

We speak English and German fluently. Love to learn Maori, Italian, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese. And maybe a few others. ® not a main goal but love languages
Hébergement
We have a 2 storey house and our visitors stay on the bottom floor with a bathroom and toilet to share with whoever stays downstairs. It is up to you and fellow visitors to keep the area clean and tidy. One room has a king bed and the other one can have two singles but is also the library 🙃

Oamaru is the capital of penguins and steampunk. Every November the Victorian Heritage Festival is celebrated. We are close to a geo park and Dunedin, Christchurch any Queenstown are within 3-4 hours

I stayed with Petra and Russell for 2 weeks and a bit, at the beginning of April and I had a wonderful time.
Apart from morning quizzes, garden work and Jelly making, I also learned a lot about Oamaru, saw penguins, filled up my candy stash and had lots of fun playing cards.

Stayed with us for 6 weeks in total. They helped painting some sheds and fences and were a great help sorting and cataloging the books for our library. They enjoyed spending time with our son who was visiting at the time and friends. Both are polite and open to give any job a go.
