My partner and I spent 3 lovely weeks at Petra & Russell's house learning all about growing veggies, bottling, cooking and getting inspiration for new recipes. We immediately felt at home and loved our time there. This experience was a highlight to our trip in New Zealand and would recommend it to anyone looking for great company and family feel

If you are lucky enough that Leigh and Meghan chose to stay with you, welcome them with open arms. You won’t regret it. They are an amazing team and complement each other well. Russell and Petra were just so kind and gentle. They welcomed me like family from day one. What they have done for me is too much. They taught me how to grow vegetables, took me to dinners with their neighbours, took me to orchestra concert, took me the sewing workshop. And they took me with them on trip and then even allowed me to stay in their

Russell is very knowledgeable and can teach me a lot. And they both love plants and grow vegetables with great care. It was an honour to help them with gardening in their precious garden. They always praised the work I had done. They really helped me to enjoy every day. It is a precious memory and experience that I will never forget. If you are looking for workaway accommodation, you should definitely choose a nice house in their Oamaru.Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Lisa)
Lisa is easy to have. She tries her very best to do everything and more asked of her. She sometimes struggles understanding but that has certainly improved while staying with us. Initially Lisa was supposed to stay for two weeks but ultimately she stayed for nearly 6 weeks. She looked after house and garden while we were away as well and we felt

She might not be the fastest but she is thorough which I personally prefer. She enjoyed meeting friends and family and was always respectful. We enjoyed hosting Lisa and hopefully one day we meet again. Safe travels and all the best for your future.

Better late than never.
I stayed with Petra and Russell for 2 weeks and a bit, at the beginning of April and I had a wonderful time.
Apart from morning quizzes, garden work and Jelly making, I also learned a lot about Oamaru, saw penguins, filled up my candy stash and had lots of fun playing cards.
If I'll ever come back to NZ (probably

Thank you again for this amazing two weeks.
See you

Fabian is a really good sort. We enjoyed how he sloted into family life and just chipped in doing anything. Really like a family member. He listens well and has a good sense of humour. His cooking skills are very good. We are happy to welcome him back any time.

Victor is a great guy to welcome to your home. He is a very gentle and respectful person who can turn his hands to anything. He won’t race of doing things at 100 miles an hour. Thank you very much. Petra and Russel are two very welcoming people. I had no idea how long I'd be there, and I ended up staying about four weeks. I enjoyed listening to their stories. PS: Petra cooks a lot better than she admits.

Home away from home is the perfect description for this experience! Stayed with us for 6 weeks in total. They helped painting some sheds and fences and were a great help sorting and cataloging the books for our library. They enjoyed spending time with our son who was visiting at the time and friends. Both are polite and open to give any job a go.

We had a wonderful time with Petra and Russel!
So great that the originally planned 2 weeks turned into 6. We were treated like part of the family from the day we arrived, taken to parties and meals with friends. They have such a nice garden where they grow so much fruit and vegetables. Petra made so much delicious fresh food ( one of our

We were taken on a camping trip to the south of the island, hiking in the mountains, to Dunedin and Russel has a great knowledge of the whole area!

It was a pleasure to meet you.
Thank you for everything!

I had an amazing time staying with Petra and Russel. Such lovely people and a lovely home with a big vegetable garden that always need tending.
