    Description

Welcome to Song of the Robin! We are an animal sanctuary that provides a forever home for rescued farm and domestic animals. We also educate the public about how they can make this world a better place for them while striving to improve our planet and the health of humankind. At our sanctuary, we currently have yaks, pigs, cats, dogs, rabbits, a mini-horse, a donkey, and goats.

Our property is located on the New York side of the Berkshires and close to many popular attractions. We are located on 85 private acres surrounded by land conservancy and an ideal place for people who enjoy the outdoors hiking, skiing, and also close to great museums and attractions such as Kripalu Yoga, Canyon Ranch, and Tanglewood.

We have been operating since 2010 and we all enjoy the cultural exchange with the many people who visit us from all around the world. We have a variety of people visiting here such as local volunteers who help out at the animal sanctuary, Workawayers, and visitors who come to our educational events around health, sustainability, and other benefits of living an animal-friendly lifestyle. Many of the programs we offer currently are the result of ideas from visitors that have helped us throughout the years and we love learning from others about new ways to educate and inspire change.

You'll stay in a comfortable and private room during your stay, with access to shared spaces like the kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom. We keep things simple and cozy to ensure you feel at home. If you're traveling with a tiny house or RV, there’s space on-site for you to park and stay as well. Here at SOTR, we are looking for people who would be willing to stay with us at least for a month, and of course, you are more than welcome to stay longer!

We provide all meals for our volunteers, and everything we serve is vegan, in line with our mission of promoting a plant-based lifestyle. Meals are often shared as a group, creating a chance to connect, unwind, and enjoy each other’s company over good food.

Our goal is to create a welcoming and relaxed environment where you can contribute to meaningful projects, connect with others, and experience life in a supportive community. Whether you're working alongside others or sharing a meal, we hope you’ll find the time here rewarding and enriching.

We are looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about helping animals and contributing to our sanctuary.

Given the nature of our work, especially with animals, it is essential that volunteers have relevant experience and are able to work independently with minimal supervision.
To ensure the safety and well-being of the animals and the quality of our projects, we require all applicants to:
    * Have prior experience in areas such as animal care, organic gardening, general maintenance, or other relevant skills.
    * Submit references from previous volunteer or work experiences that demonstrate your abilities and commitment.
    * Schedule an interview call with us to discuss your background, skills, and motivation for wanting to join our team. This helps us ensure that we are a good match for each other and that your skills align with our needs.

We ask that you provide clear details about your experience with the tasks mentioned and why you are interested in volunteering with us. This helps us evaluate your suitability for the role and ensures that we maintain a safe and productive environment for both volunteers and the animals in our care.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We look forward to reviewing your application and discussing how we can work together.
