We are a Swedish-American family who enjoy opening our home to guests from around the world. I have two kids, Liam, 14, and Talila, 16, every other week (plus 2 cats). We enjoy getting to know new people and we also enjoy opening guests' eyes to the beauty of rural Sweden.
We are looking for a person with a good command of English or Swedish who can help us with gardening work and household jobs: cooking vegetarian/vegan food, cleaning, laundry, watering plants, sewing, organizing etc.
Plus some painting jobs and smaller projects. Organizing and cooking skills are a merit!
In the summer, gardening experience would be greatly appreciated.
I am into yoga, dance, meditation, singing, massage, hikes and other nature experiences and vegan/vegetarian cooking.
Together with the kids, I enjoy goofing around, movies, ping-pong, board games and card games.
Talila likes dancing, listening to music, reading and working out.
Liam likes working out, playing piano, YouTube and hanging out with his buddies.
We have a relaxed and natural atmosphere here at home filled with warmth and laughter and we are happy to share this with others. We are all fluent in Swedish but speak mostly English.
We live in a 30 year old eco-house in a small picturesque village on the countryside.
How it works? We offer you a room and provide food during your stay. You help 4 hours a day 5 days a week, excluding cooking and cleaning up after meals (which we all help out with).
We are social and friendly, and we want you to enjoy your stay while contributing. I am happy to offer tips for outings or take you along with us when we go on outings and activities.
There are different activities happening in the area such as ecstatic dance evenings and a choir that I lead.

The nature here is very picturesque. Ours is an open and relaxed family and, together with the peacefulness of the area, this can prove to be quite healing for mind and soul. We speak English at home mostly.

Buses into the nearest town go two times a day, but only during the school year.
There is much nature and many scenic areas to be explored. On your free time you might enjoy borrowing a bike and exploring different lakes. If you have a license, you can borrow the car as well.

Slavica was a wonderful guest, conscientious, hard-working and friendly. She single-handedly managed our household with dog, plants and multiple B&B guests for 2 1/2 weeks while we were travelling abroad. Highly recommend her.

George was an excellent workawayer! He was with us for over a month. Quiet and efficient, he was very diligent and thorough with the various projects and chores we gave him. Rachel is a warm, fun and social woman who really brightened up our household. She was reliable and did a very good job with her various tasks. She really hit it off with our 7 year old daughter Talila, it was fun to see how deeply they connected.

Elena was an exemplary workaway guest. Very friendly, flexible and conscientious. She took own initiative to work which we really appreciated. And she connected well with our children.
Her trip was cut short by a change in her circumstances but we greatly appreciated her stay as long as it lasted.
