    Description

We are building a Permaculture homestead in the Rocky Mountains near Golden BC.  We started with bare land and have in the past 9 years built a functioning though still under construction farmstead.

We built an “Earthship” (rammed earth tire wall/hempcrete/off-grid home.)  Organic gardens & a small food forest orchard, chicken/duck coop, pigs in the woods, solar systems, wood-fired hot-tubs and a homemade hydraulic ram pump that supplies up to 4000L of water per day on nothing but head pressure and physics :). We put in (and are still working on) water systems and solar systems. We raise pigs in the woods (20+/year), free-range laying hens (70+) and ducks for pest control and food.

Our newest farm enterprise is high CBD hemp grown in greenhouses. We use Korean Natural Farming (KNF) techniques for fertilizers and pesticides based on fermentation and locally-harvested microbes. We also garden for ourselves and for winter storage. Betty is a chef and is always busy baking, fermenting, canning as well as cooking wonderful meals for us.  Betty also works off-farm at her Organic grocery store Eat Pure Mountain Market.

Our longer-term plans include sharing our land and building a permaculture micro-community focused on land restoration and freedom, common law, private societies. We are looking for motivated helping hands who wish to expand their knowledge of permaculture, homesteading and hemp!  We are looking for co-creators with skills with tools, horticulture or animals, knowledge of permaculture and willingness to get dirty, work hard, live minimally and have fun! If you are interested in a full-season internship or can commit to at least a 2 month stay please visit our website to fill out our internship application! Ask for the address.

We are located in the Columbia Valley that divides the Rocky Mountains from the Columbia Mountains. This is a beautiful place that gets a good mix of sun and precipitation. Many rivers and lakes in the area, including the majestic KinBasket Reservior that stretches 160kms. There are tons of hiking and biking trails, rivers and waterfalls nearby to check out on your days off and you can walk to the river to fish from our property. *You will benefit if you have a CAR to access all that this area has to offer.
