I live in a beautiful area of BC, Canada.
This is an opportunity for workaways to living close to nature while still being only a 45 minute drive to Nelson.
I’m not a fan of fast food and like to cook from scratch.
I’ve always been interested in trying to be creative and self sufficient.
Over the years I’ve learned skills around gardening and food preservation that includes canning, drying and freezing for future use that I would enjoy sharing with others if they are interested.
I usually raise two or three beef and try to provide them with a good life while they are on the farm.
This year due to the short supply and cost of beef, I may not have any.
I’m also a bit of an environmentalist and an upcycling fan.
I love to take old items and recreate them into something useable as I believe doing so helps prevent excess waste going to landfills and also feeds our creativity.
I enjoy getting to know and learn from people from different countries and cultures and I’m willing to help my guests have a positive experience during their visit.Aide
This is a 17 acre parcel of land that’s been in the family for close to a century.
Living on a large property and caring for the land has always been a life style choice.
I’m enthusiastic about hosting workaways who are interested in helping me while experiencing life in a rural area.
I try to grow organically and much of the food I cook with is sourced from the “farm”.
Like most properties, there are always chores, repairs and projects that need to be done.
Depending on the season these projects include help with gardening, yard work, the house, general maintenance and repairs.
In winter outside chores are limited so I take advantage of that time to do some painting, cleaning and house maintenance.
My next priority is a shed that needs a new roof, weather permitting.
I believe the workaway experience should be fair and enjoyable for both workers and host and I’m open to matching the projects that need done to my guests skills and interests.Langues parlées

There is a bedroom with a king size bed, a TV room and private bathroom available for a couple. Also a bedroom with a single bed, so depending on who’s staying, I can accommodate up to three guests, but usually only have two. I am happy to share my home and provide healthy meals.

Procter is an unincorporated community in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia.
It is accessible by road and a 10 minute free ferry ride.
The locality (via BC Highway 3A and Harrop/Procter Rd) is about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northeast of Nelson B.C.. Procter is a rural community of around 500 + people.
The property is very close to and overlooks Kootenay lake and there are hiking, cycling, swimming and camping areas very close by.
Bus service is available close to the ferry and the area offers many different entertainment options.
I have a couple of bicycles for workaways to use as well as some camping gear.
Although not totally necessary, workaways wanting to explore the Kootenays while staying with me would very much benefit from having their own vehicle.Informations complémentaires
