My name is Dave and I have been living in Chiang Mai for over five years and have started a non-profit and now a Thai foundation. We work with three remote hill-tribe villages and I am seeking 'interns' to live in these villages for a minimum of three months to teach English and help our team with various projects.
This is an incredible way to learn about these unique ethnic groups and integrate into a remote community. Due to how remote theses villages are, this is a challenging task and not for everyone.
Transportation, food, & lodging are all covered for this internship.
This position is open to individuals and couples. Please email your CV, two references, and why you think you would be a good candidate.
Interns would be required to teach conversational English Monday - Friday teaching between two to four hours per day. Other duties include contributing blog entries and also helping our team with other projects and logistics.
Accommodation in the villages is very basic. We provide a single room, with a shared bathroom, and there are only cold bucket showers. Rooms have hangers and a place for clothes, fan, bed, and sheets/pillow. There is internet at the schools but it frequently does not work due to weather and power outages.
This is a very unique opportunity for individuals or couples to make a direct contribution to a community. We have very close relationships with these villages and volunteers are warmly welcomed into daily village life. This also means 'interns' are expected to be polite, friendly, and easy going.
You are also providing a much needed boost to the children's English education as their opportunities are limited due to the village remoteness and socioeconomic standing of the majority of the families. Serious inquires only please.
