    Description

    Hey there!

I live in one half of an old 270 year-old house with a property of about 1900 m² including a barn, garden, well, two garden huts, a small meadow and some animals.

The property covers about 1900 m² and is located at the edge of a small village, directly next to forest and fields — lots of space, peace and nature, but also many interesting corners and small projects.

For a few weeks I am looking for friendly and reliable travelers who would like to help me with tasks around the house and household.

I am a teacher of French, English and German, and if you are interested I would be happy to offer one hour of German lessons per day.
For many years I hosted language travelers who came to learn German with me. We often explored Cologne, Bonn and the Rhine region together, and they always left very positive reviews.

    🔧 Help welcome

At the moment I am mainly looking for help during the Easter holidays (two weeks or more starting March 30) with housework and organizing the house.
Because of upcoming renovation work, the house needs to be more or less cleared out (first floor and attic). I had already made good progress with this, but unfortunately I broke my foot recently and I am still not completely mobile.

So I would appreciate someone (male, female or diverse) who can help me sort things out and pack flea-market boxes, and who does not mind doing the spring cleaning.

If you would like to bring someone along who enjoys organizing the barn and the workshop, that person would be very welcome, too!

    🕒 Working hours

About 3–4 hours per day, 5 days per week

(or flexible by arrangement — it is also possible to combine workdays and have more free days).

    🏠 Accommodation

You will have your own room.

    Available options:

    • two rooms with a bed (one single and one double)
    • the attic with a sofa bed (currently not organized)

Kitchen and bathroom (with bathtub) are shared.

    Wi-Fi available (50 Mbit/s).

    🍽️ Food

    Food and accommodation are provided.

I provide the groceries. Cooking can be done together or individually, depending on mood and preference. You are welcome to participate, but nothing is obligatory :-)

By the way, the local drinking water from the Wahnbach reservoir is excellent.

    🐕 Animals welcome

Dogs, cats or other pets are welcome as long as they are vaccinated, friendly and get along with my animals:
my dog (male), a tomcat, a rooster and two chickens.
The property is fully fenced so that your dog could run freely as long as it doesn’t hunt my cat or eat my chickens 😉

    🌍 Surroundings & free time

The location is very rural and peaceful, but still reasonably well connected (bus stop 1,0 km away).

    Distances:

    • Neunkirchen-Seelscheid – 3 km
    • Siegburg – 15 km
    • Bonn – 25 km
    • Cologne – 35 km

Perfect for hiking and mountain biking through gently rolling landscapes with light forests, wide meadows and small valleys with streams and ponds.

You can also enjoy cultural excursions along the Rhine and in Cologne and Bonn:
cathedrals, churches, museums, Rhine boat trips (for example to the Drachenfels, the Loreley or Remagen), concerts and even clubbing in Cologne until the early morning.

🤝 What I am looking for

You will probably enjoy staying here if you:

    • enjoy nature and\or would like to get to know Cologne, Bonn and the Rhine
    • appreciate friendly and honest communication
    • you enjoy sorting things and doing thorough cleaning
    • are able to work independently
    • enjoy being around animals
    • would like to be part of a household for a while

    📩 Interested?

Please write a short message telling me:

    • who you are
    • where you come from
    • why you would like to come
    • what time period would work for you
    • whether you would bring a pet

I look forward to hearing from you! 😊

As a language teacher (French, English and German), I enjoy cultural exchange with travelers. If you like, I can offer a little German practice during your stay.

I also enjoy sharing the region with my guests. At the moment I am still recovering from a broken foot, so I cannot do long walking tours in the cities right now. However, I can still drive and occasionally take guests on small excursions that require little walking.

For example, we could visit places along the Rhine such as the famous Drachenfels (railway to the top), or take a relaxing boat trip on the Rhine (Bonn, Köln, Drachenfels, Loreley, Linz, Remagen)

I can also drive guests to nearby towns once or twice a week, for example to Siegburg, Bonn or Cologne, where there are many cultural attractions, museums, cafés and nightlife.

Besides that, I enjoy conversations about languages, travel and everyday life in Germany.
