Description
**Please read all the way to the bottom for important information about staying with us**
Hi!
We - Josh & Siri - are a couple in our 30s, living in Flisa, Norway.
We bought our small farm earlier this year, and we are still "moving in" and getting properly settled here.
On a small farm there's always work to be done, and through workaway we've learned that the saying "many hands make light work" definitely holds true. There's something so fulfilling about working together as a small group, helping each other and talking, joking, and laughing together.
Some of the work that we could use a bit of help with before the winter is building some animal enclosures, tidying up the property and getting materials and equipment inside before the snow comes, stacking firewood, some planting, tidying/making space in the barn, and some daily chores like animal care and some light house work like cooking and cleaning.
On our farm we have chickens, turkeys, peafowl, ducks, geese, rabbits, and miniature pigs. We also have cats and two VERY LARGE dogs (50+kg).
The area we're in is great for people who enjoy peace, quiet, and spending time in nature - there are lots of great hiking opportunities here, and we are very close to Norway's longest river.
While Siri is Norwegian and has lived most of her life in Norway, Josh is from Wales and has lived in Norway since 2020. In our house, we mostly speak english, so any english-speaking visitors
will fit right in!
We are LGBTQIA+ friendly 😊❤️
===========
**IMPORTANT!!!**
Our house is not suitable for people with pet allergies (!!!) or for workawayers who prefer strict schedules and can't handle a bit of chaos (both in the literal and figurative sense, our house is never 100% clean and tidy, it's a FARMHOUSE!
Also, and maybe most important - we have two VERY BIG dogs, it's important that you are familiar with large dogs, and that you are comfortable and calm around them. They are both very social and love to meet new people, but because of their size they can be intimidating to people who are not used to dogs.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
We can help you learn some Norwegian, and Siri will happily teach you to knit, crochet, embroider, or sew - or spend hours discussing plant care, gardening, or the genetics of chicken colors.
We can take you around our area and show you some historical sites, and teach you about the history of the area and the country.
Siri's mother and stepfather (also hosts!) live very close, and are very knowledgeable about places to visit and things to see in our area, as well as the rest of the country. They love to travel, and will happily tell you stories about their trips, and give you ideas for your future travel plans.

Autres infos...
There is no public transportation to/from the house, but if you want a day out we can drive you to Flisa, which is about 10km away. Flisa has a bus station with buses going down to Kongsvinger or up to Elverum about every hour. From Kongsvinger you can easily get to Oslo, or further south, from Elverum you can get to Hamar/Lillehammer and further north.
You can also take a bus or train from Kongsvinger and across the border to Sweden.
In our area, there are plenty of hiking trails and beautiful forests to explore, lakes to visit for fishing or swimming, a few stores within walking distance, and buses to take you anywhere else you wish to go. We recommend taking a day to explore Kongsvinger fortress!

As we have birds, rabbits, pigs, cats, and dogs, the well-being of our own animals needs to come first. If you are travelling with an animal, it is very important that it will not chase the birds, rabbits, pigs, or cats, and that it will get along with our dogs.

Kaos, Lita, and the kittens
We have 5 cats - Kaos, Lita, and 3 kittens.
Kaos is an orange male. He's social, friendly, and loves to be petted. He's also very playful.
Lita is a gray tortoiseshell female. She's shy, but will sneak into your bedroom at night to cuddle if you leave your door open.
The 3 kittens are rescues who lost their mother when they were only 3 weeks old, and have been bottle fed since then. They are super sweet and love to play and cuddle!Grimm (1 an)
Grimm is a rottweiler, and still just a "puppy". He's big though - over 40kg - and he doesn't understand how big he is. He is still learning to not jump and bite, but he forgets when he's super excited. Grimm LOVES people, and loves to make new friends.
His favorite activities are cuddling and playing.Gypsy (5 ans)
Gypsy is a mix of Anatolian shepherd and presa canario. She's a big girl - about 45-50kg - but is super sweet and loves people. She can get a little bit too excited when she meets new people, and forgets she's too big to jump on you or sit on your lap.
Her favorite activities are cuddling and playing!
