  Description

  We are an Italian family living in Tuscany, in an old farmhouse near the woods, in the countryside among the hills between Livorno and Pisa.
  It is a peaceful place surrounded by nature, but at the same time we are not far from the sea and from some of the most beautiful towns and cities in Tuscany. Pisa, Lucca and Florence, for example, can be visited from here. Tuscany attracts visitors throughout the year, so there are always plenty of interesting places to discover.
  
  I work as a primary school teacher and my husband Roberto works as a surveyor in Livorno.
  
  We enjoy a simple and sociable lifestyle. In our free time we like going for walks, meeting friends, listening to music and spending time at home and in the countryside.
  
  Art and music are important interests in our family. Roberto attends an art school, where he studies engraving and etching techniques, and he enjoys working on his own art projects. I play the transverse flute and Roberto plays the cajón. We both play in a folk band and enjoy traditional music.
  
  I also love languages and speak English, French and Spanish. Roberto speaks Spanish.
  
  We have two grown-up daughters, Linda and Claudia. They are both university students and now live away from home: Linda is studying in Padua and Claudia is studying in Potsdam, near Berlin. Languages and travelling have always been an important part of our family life.
  
  We all love reading and our house is full of books – really full of books! We have many bookshelves around the house and many other books are stored in the attic under the roof. This is why one of the jobs we sometimes ask Workawayers to help us with is dusting and taking care of books and bookshelves.
  
  Living in an old farmhouse also means that there is always something to do! Depending on the season, we may need help with the garden and outdoor maintenance, tidying and organising spaces, or other simple practical jobs around the house.
  
  We have hosted Workawayers before and we enjoy the experience very much. Of course, having some help is useful, but for us Workaway is also about meeting people from different countries, exchanging experiences, practising languages and hearing new stories and points of view.
  
  We like sharing meals, conversations and convivial moments with the people who stay with us, while of course respecting everyone's need for independence and personal time.
  
  We generally eat local, seasonal and healthy food. We are happy to welcome vegetarians and vegans too, and if you have food allergies or intolerances, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to adapt our meals.
  
  If you enjoy nature, books, music, art, languages and the relaxed atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside, you will probably feel at home with us.

  We can help you to plan visits of the main Tuscany towns.
  We enjoy to meet with friends, here at home, so you will have the opportunity to meet different people and spend time in an authentic environment.

  We ask for spirit of cooperation in the daily management. We usually prefer short experiences (7-10 days). According with the period, you could be asked to help with the olives harvesting, or with the trees pruning.

  In our opinion spending time with workawayers is a very motivating way to practice languages! I can speak french, spanish and some german, but for job reasons I am particularly interested in practicing english. Roberto feels more involved when someone speaking some italian or spanish comes, because he can interact a little more: we all will be happy to listen to your stories! Anyway I can help to translate.

  Hébergement

  You will sleep in a room that will be left just for you. We will be respectful of your privacy. You are expected to keep the room clean and not to eat upstairs. Thank you!

  We live in an old farmhouse, where two other families live.
  From our house to town it is possible to use the public transport, but it is very important to know that there are very few buses during the day. Having a car is the best option to move to town: we can manage to take you and pick you up according with our working hours.
  For example we can take you to the train station in Livorno, and from there you can get trains to Pisa (15 minutes), Lucca (40 minutes) and Florence (1 hour); also visiting Livorno can be a nice experience. The seafront of Livorno is amazing, you can also have a walk in the central market and in the town center.
  Sometimes, when we have free time we will be pleased to go along with you!
