Description
We are a family of 3-4 living on the Mid North Coast of NSW, in a place called Elands. Home of the Ellenborough falls. We have 2 kids at home (a daughter nearly 13, and a son nearly 16 ), 4 dogs, 1 crazy cat & 11 cows, lots of goats, & lots of chickens. We have a love of the land, animals and a love of the environment, and keen to try this off grid life with zest!
We are excited for ANY help across these areas,
- maintaining our farm animals areas and care for them
- plant rainforest trees *usually only between October and December due to weather conditions
- maintaining cabin & surrounds - general cleaning & help in cabin
- hanging with our kids and helping them with their farm chores
- if arty, and handy, creating signage for our camping sites
- helping with cleaning communial bathrooms for our campers
- TLC of our vegetable garden, weeding, collecting cow poo and digging it in, mulching and planting/watering
- mowing - lots of fun on tractor and zero turn & whipper snipper
- hanging out with our cows, herding them up for check ups and medicine or selling
- goat care - trimming goat hooves, spending time with them
- mini mule training and love! YES he needs lots of attention
- playing with dogs and caring for them
- stone work *let us know if you do this, we have half a wall we need help to finish
- privet clearing (thats where you cut a branch of a weed and apply a chemical to it with an applicator). Time consuming but not hard. Great to do with music blaring from speaker!!
In return, we offer yummy fresh food (we do love to eat well), basic accomodation (caravan or in loft in cabin), satelite internet & off grid power. PLus hot showers AND yes we do have a washing machine! PLUS we LOVE showing you around the area, so many adventures to be had. REmember we live on a river, so swimming is a must!
We are happy to accomodate singles, couples or the right family, just have a chat with us first. As we may need you to manage breakfasts and snacks if staying with kids. And hoping the kids can give a hand, even if it's weeding , riding ride on mowers/tractors, or helping with animals each day.
Looking forward to hearing from you! Jenny & Lucas , Dylan and Sienna (our eldest zach is all grown up now and moved out and working eeeeek)Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Enjoying being part of a family, helping plant rainforest trees, helping to better what we can provide our camping customers so they have to bring less, and generally enjoying their stay as we do love to cook, and show them around so they have fun while they are here! We have a lot to do, so super appreciative of ALL help!

A usual day may be:
A hot cuppa and breakfast.
- Help tidy up after breakfast
- Feed chickens
- Feed pigs
- Feed horse
- Manage goats
- Help milk, or care for cows
Basically, we get you comfortable so you feel part of our family, so it's easy to help out, and also to make yourself a cuppa and grab something to eat when you need to.
And then if we have any projects like:
- weeding days (always fire weed to clear in paddocks - easy to do)
- building something - shed, chooks house, fixing fences, new fences
- maintaining gardens
- tidying up farm (always things to tidy and clean when you are wearing so many hats on the farm)
OR in School holidays: we do eco tourism so delivering fire wood, and helping cleaning amenities (there aren't many) or getting on tractor and mowing for guests.
You will be asked if you could help us with these tasks.
But many days (if no major projects or we have needed you to work longer on a day to get through a task) we may say, go enjoy your day, maybe go for a walk to the #ellenborough falls 800 metres away. Or walk to the river from our place, which is just on our river flat below our cabin 300 metres away. Or maybe explore the other side of the property where our cows roam, and we have much river to explore (in summer swimming in this gorgeous river is the best). Or hop on a mountain bike and go riding into town & check out the gorgeous views on the way. And often neighbours will include you in a dinner, or we will hold a dinner here and include others from the area to meet with you. Or you can use the day to practise your english or anything else you need to do on computer or just spending time enjoying the farm life.
On weekends we have kids sport, you are welcome to relax in a hammock on the farm or create your adventure for the day, or you can join us and come into town to experience town life and what we do as a family. Plus usual 'supermarket' shop & picking up feed for animals. Or Lucas may have a project he is working on and invite you to help out. We do like to find out the things you are interested in so we do our best to get you helping in those things. Basically, we enjoy seeing you enjoy your stay, and being part of our family while you are here.
Friday nights we always try to make it relaxing, as it's a chance for our kids to have a movie night, winter around the fire place, or summer outside with cheese and nibbles & a drink.Langues

Very happy to help share ours or learn another language. Love learning chinese, german and terrible at french but happy to try, kids learn basic languages at school. But most important is the sharing of cultures we find!Hébergement
Depending on when you come, could be staying in our cabin with our family in the loft. Or staying in a caravan if available, or we setup a 3 room tent with sprung mattress, and bedding/linen (failing those two things). NOTE: we have hot water for showers, solar power/off grid for powering things, and Elon Musk wifi ! So we have great signal & upload speeds!
Autres infos...
In the summer, swimming LOTS in the river... through to, bush walks, or head into town and go to cafes, or just hang out on the mountain - lie and fall asleep in a hammock between the trees next to the river, Ellenborough Falls walk, rapids, Potaroo Falls, Rowley's rock, blue knob, visit local farms, enjoy the fresh air, the stars, the fire place, the fresh water river, and generally just enjoy the feeling of freedom. But happy to drop them into town once a week, and there is a local cafe and corner shop. And buses that go from here to town. Nature to see up here! The beach is only 1 hr 30 min away as well. OR JUST grab a hammock and setup somewhere on the 90 acres and get away from us and everyone else! :).

They took care of us and our children, spending time with them and organizing nice adventures in the sorrounding.
We had the opportunity to restore their caravan, hoping next workawayers and guests will enjoy that place!
Their property was amazing, with nice spots between the trees and the river side.… read more
