  Hi there!
  
  We're a friendly, active family of four living in Mackay, Queensland - right on the doorstep of some of the best that North Queensland has to offer and a great base for exploring the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef.
  
  We're looking for someone (or possibly a couple) to come and stay with us, lend a hand around the house and garden, and enjoy a slice of Australian family life.
  
  We're simply looking for an easy-going, reliable person who doesn't mind helping out with everyday things around the house and some light yard work.
  
  In return, you'll have your own accommodation, plenty of opportunity to explore, and the chance to experience life in Australia with a fun, busy family.
  
  A little about us
  We're a family of four with two awesome kids:
  
  Our 9-year-old son – energetic, outdoorsy and always ready for the next adventure. He loves soccer, being outside and keeping busy.
  
  Our 7-year-old daughter – confident, funny, a little sassy and definitely not short on personality!
  
  Fair warning... our house is not a quiet one!
  
  The kids have plenty of energy and there's usually something happening, but we're a relaxed family and we're not expecting you to do everything.
  
  We're simply looking for someone who is happy to be around family life, have a laugh, and pitch in when needed.
  
  Your home away from home
  
  You'll have your own retro-fitted caravan on our property.
  It's a bit different from the usual Workaway accommodation and has its own character — think of it as your little home base while you're here.
  
  You'll have your own space to relax, unwind and have some privacy, while still being close enough to be part of the family when you want to be.
  
  Why come to Mackay?
  
  When you're not helping out, there's plenty to see and do.
  Mackay is a fantastic base for exploring North Queensland, the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef, with beautiful beaches, islands, national parks, waterfalls, fishing, swimming, hiking and plenty of outdoor adventures.
  
  We're also within reach of some incredible reef and island experiences, including the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef.
  
  So if you're looking for an experience where you can work a little, explore a lot and experience everyday Australian life, this could be a great fit.
  
  We're looking for someone who is:
  
  Positive and easy-going
  Responsible and reliable
  Happy to help around the house and garden
  Comfortable around children and family life
  Independent and respectful of personal space
  Enjoys getting outdoors and exploring
  A non-smoker 🚭
  
  Someone with a good sense of humour!
  You don't need to have years of experience in anything particular. A good attitude, common sense and willingness to help are much more important to us.
  
  We're hoping to find someone who isn't just looking for a free place to stay, but who wants to experience Australia, meet a family, lend a hand and have some fun along the way.

  Aide

  What would you be helping with?
  
  Nothing too crazy - just the normal things that help keep a busy household running smoothly.
  Things might include:
  
  General help around the house
  Keeping shared areas tidy
  Helping with dishes, laundry or other everyday household jobs
  Light gardening and yard work
  Occasional odd jobs or helping us get things done around the property
  Being part of the general rhythm of family life
  
  We're not looking for a cleaner or gardener — just someone who's happy to roll up their sleeves and lend a hand.
  
  If you're the sort of person who sees something that needs doing and thinks "I'll give that a hand," you'll probably fit in perfectly.

  You'll have your own private space in a retro fitted out caravan.
  
  If you're travelling as a couple, we're happy to consider couples and may have some alternative accommodation options depending on the circumstances.
  
  We're only a few minutes from Mackay's town centre, so you'll have easy access to shops, cafes, restaurants and everything else you need during your free time.

  When you're not helping...
  
  One of the best things about staying with us is that there's plenty to do when you're not helping around the house.
  
  Mackay is a great place to base yourself if you want to experience the real Australian outdoors. There are beautiful beaches, swimming spots, walking and bike trails, fishing, waterfalls, rainforest and plenty of places to explore nearby.
  
  You can spend your days off exploring places like Cape Hillsborough, Eungella, Finch Hatton Gorge and the Pioneer Valley, or simply head to the beach, grab a coffee and enjoy the sunshine.
  
  If you're into cycling, walking or running, Mackay has an extensive network of shared pathways, including the Bluewater Trail, which winds through the city and along the Pioneer River.
