    Description

Hey there, my name is AK. I'm a global leadership coach and faith mentor. I’ve spent 10+ years working with changemakers across Asia, Africa and North America, helping them build resilience and avoid burnout. Having burnt out myself (ironic, I know 🤦🏾‍♀️), I’m now in a phase of life where I’ve slowed things down quite a bit. I’m focused on building courageous spaces of authenticity and depth to support myself and others on their holistic health and healing journey. I recently relocated to the island of Phuket to aid my transition into the slow life and am LOVING it on many levels. However, I also realised how much I still felt over my head, juggling a lot while maintaining a big house alone.

Although I've recently closed my consulting company and put work on pause to enter a doctoral program ( focused on the holistic development of BIPOC women at the intersection of cultures), I'd like to develop an online presence, sharing my voice and story in a way that supports others and nurtures meaningful community. I'd also love to build my home into a safe haven for people to connect.

I'm not the most tech-savvy, and I've been using that as an excuse not to be online. I'm looking for someone to assist in building my vision, taking the lead on tech items ( calendar setups, automation, zoom, workflow creation, listserv, etc.) and content creation ( from idea to execution and edited product for blogs and vlogs) to build an aligned online presence /thought leadership. Ideally, you’re also a team player who can pitch in on other creative projects around the house as I whip it into shape so that we can launch onsite programming centred on holistic health and healing.

I've lived and worked in over 36 countries and come from a multi-cultural background myself (I grew up in the US but am of African and Eastern European descent). I love meeting like-hearted people passionate about building bridges across differences and leading with their values to impact the world positively. That said, I am new to Workaway and have not used it myself but decided to try posting on here after taking a month to walk the Camino and meeting multiple people along the way who had great Workaway experiences and said they thought for sure someone would be thrilled by the idea of supporting my vision in exchange for a transformative experience on a beautiful island… so here I am throwing out this idea and seeing if there's anyone who gets excited enough to want to learn more! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Wanted: Hearted Centered Creative/ Digital StoryTeller & Tech Ninja to Help Build Online Presence.

    The Space
I live in a one-level house with 3 bedrooms, 4 baths and large living, dining and outdoor areas. You would have your own bedroom with ensuite bathroom. There is a king-size bed, desk, fan and tv ( with Roku). All linens are provided, and the room is designed to be a warm and inviting environment (i.e. warm-toned paint and ikea rugs, ha). There is also a washer that you can use and the house is equipped with high-speed internet.

I am open to having one person at a time or having you come with a partner/ friend(s). If multiple people would like to join, I would love it if at least one of you has a green thumb and can go to town in my front yard to create a vegetable garden and support with home maintenance and DIY projects. If there’s lots of creative energy, I’d love to have you do some mural painting in the front entrance!

    The Area
The house is located in a quiet part of Chalong, in the southern part of Phuket, about an hour from the international airport. We are only a 10-minute walk to the water and a 10-minute bike ride to a new mall with a theatre and Soi Tai-ed, famously known as “Muay Thai Street”, lined with many gyms, eateries and massage/nail spas.

    Transportation.
The island does not have the best public transportation (cabs are costly, and buses are not as plentiful as in the main areas); however, most people rent motorbikes ( which I can help you secure). I also have a bicycle you can use to get around during your stay, and I am certainly open to adventuring together, as I’m always down for nature, and there’s a ton I still haven’t seen.

    House Norms/ Agreements:
We may be a great fit if you agree to keep my home
    - Dry Home ( no smoking of any sort, no drugs or alcohol inside of on-premises. We're also not looking for someone who aims to come to Phuket to party all the time )
    - Vegan household (you're free to eat what you want outside but inside, no meat, dairy, etc).
    - Safe space where we accept people as they are and engage others from a place of love, curiosity, and cultural humility
    - Home that fights for equity and believes in healing people, healing people, and then going on to make systems and structures that heal people.
    - Sacred space where God is at the centre and leading from a deep place of connection to something greater than yourself is seen as vital to a life of fulfilment.
    - Clean space where everyone respects one another by cleaning up after themselves, keeping common spaces tidy, pitching in on house chores, etc.

Please note that no house guests are allowed, and if you plan to come to Phuket to party during your downtime, this is probably not the best fit for you. Preference is given to people fluent in English and interested in 1 month and longer stays. Additionally, just as you would with any other housing in Phuket, I wil take a photocopy of your passport upon arrival as it is required by Thai law that all foreigners housing in the country be on file.

If interested in continuing the convo, please shoot me a note with the following:
    - Name, age, and gender w/ pronouns:
    - What country you’re from:
    - English language level:
    - A bit about you ( who you are, why you’re travelling, your personal hopes/dreams):
    - Your ideal length of stay, travel dates and your travelling party ( if more than just you):
    - Your experience with content creation/ digital storytelling & tech ( also include tools/platforms you’re most confident in and links to any samples):
    - Your experience, if any, with organic/ecological gardening and DIY housework:
    - What you hope to give and get from this exchange:

If you fail to respond without answering the following, you will not be considered. This helps me weed through people who make batch responses vs those who take the time to fully read and respond, showing the level of intentionality and care I’m looking to both give and receive during this exchange. Thanks for your understanding. Sending love and light!

Learn from a global leadership coach and grow your creative skills while exploring a beautiful country!

    What You’ll Gain:

Cultural Immersion: Living in Thailand offers a unique opportunity to experience the rich traditions, vibrant local customs, and delicious cuisine. I will introduce you to the local way of life, including visits to nearby cultural sites, local markets, and events.

Learning and Growth: I’m eager to share my knowledge of leadership development, spiritual growth, and cross-cultural bridgebuilding to help you develop your voice and abilities as a writer and content creator. Whether you’re looking to refine your skills or learn new ones, I’ll guide you through the process and offer feedback to help you grow. I’m also open to learning from your experiences and ideas, creating a true exchange of knowledge.

Community and Belonging: I believe in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where you’ll feel like a valued member of my home. We’ll work together on projects, share meals, and engage in meaningful conversations that go beyond just the tasks at hand.

    What I Hope to Learn:
Hosting visitors from around the world allows me to gain new insights into different cultures, perspectives, and creative approaches. I’m always inspired by the stories and ideas that visitors bring, and I’m excited to learn more about your background and how we can collaborate to create something special.

I'm looking for a creative digital storyteller & tech ninja (experts, newbies and wannabees welcome) who geeks out over the idea of taking messy concepts and giving them a structure, creating lifestyle vlogs and content that speaks to the heart of who we are as human beings, trying new things, engaging in meaningful dialogue that goes beyond small talk to helps us reconnect to the truth of who we are and what we have the power to do. A big plus if you've already been on your self-development journey and have a faith walk/spiritual practices that root you. I'm fairly open to exploring how best to structure the exchange in terms of when you put in your hours, but overall, expect a set schedule for filming and collaborative work ( we can decide together), and independent work can be done flexibly as long as we agree on deadlines. Ultimately, I want this to be fun for you, so if you don’t like self-inquiry, travel, cross-cultural exchange, leadership development or conversations about God/spiritual growth, this probably won’t be a good fit since most content creation will focus on these🙏🏾. Also, if you do love the sound of this and want to create a plan to build local travel into our content creation strategy, I'd be open to scheduling some " trips" and footing the bill while we create! 🙂

During your time off, feel free to hit the beach, join me for a hike, bike ride or play pickleball/badminton ( I've been yearning for a partner, ha), tone your butt by walking hill to big Buddha, explore neighbouring islands, connect with locals, check out the old town and eat tons of great food. The best way to get around is to rent a motor bike. I can help with that. Or if you’re active you can usee my bike.

You're welcome to use your free time to work on other commitments you may have, please just share these beforehand, especially if you have very specific hours that you must keep for your other commitments. The house is equipped with fast wifi and you'll have a desk in your room. If you're looking to start your nomad journey this could be a great opportunity to do it on the cheap, while building your portfolio and having a blast at the same time. If you've already been doing nomad life for a while and want to be in one place for a month or longer to recharge and explore a new level of creative expression, this could be a great fit.
