Ruby and Charlie were an absolute delight to host! They are a truly lovely couple—kind, very intelligent, open-minded, and full of positive energy. From the moment they arrived, they felt like part of the family. We shared wonderful conversations and many meals together, introducing them to our incredible local seafood and even enjoying some live

Their work ethic was exceptional—they were diligent, conscientious, and quick learners. They took on household and garden tasks with enthusiasm and care, completely transforming a major section of the garden and meticulously preparing the raspberry patch for the new season. Their efforts were deeply appreciated, and their impact will be enjoyed for seasons to come.
Beyond their hard work, Ruby and Charlie brought laughter, warmth and a real sense of connection to our home. We were very sad to see them go, and we sincerely hope to welcome them back in the future. They are now honourary “Creekers,” and we have no doubt our paths will cross again. We wish them the very best in all their adventures ahead—Rosie and Rhubee miss them already!
We had the most amazing month-long stay with Karen, Ryan and Penny (and their gorgeous dogs), and cannot recommend Robert’s Creek more!
This was our first Workaway and it completely surpassed all expectations we had. The “creek” is beautiful, and we’re so grateful to Karen and Ryan for sharing their home and garden with us. From the moment we

Our work in the garden was so rewarding and we learnt so much. Rosie and Rhubee, their two adorable dogs, were also a highlight of our stay!! We slept in the “slumber queen” just outside of the house and it was clean, comfortable and so cosy throughout our stay. We loved making our morning tea and listening to the cockerels and turkeys. Karen is an amazing cook and even accommodated our preferences and favourite foods!
We’re so sad to have left and wish we could spend more time there. We’ll remember our time on the Sunshine Coast fondly, and - hopefully - we’ll be back!!

Manaka stayed with us for two months while she practised her English, and it was an absolute joy to have her here. She quickly became part of our family, and we miss her tremendously. Our dogs adored her and still miss her so much! Manaka is a hard worker—dedicated, highly intelligent, and always willing to help. She is one of the kindest people

We wish her the very best in everything she does and have no doubt that our paths will cross again one day. Thank you, Manaka, for everything—you are always welcome here!

We are very sorry that Tom and Oke had such a negative experience, though we are quite surprised by their feedback, as they only spent less than an hour at our home before leaving without notice or communication.
To clarify, we do not have a mobile home. As stated in our profile, when our Workaways are not staying in the guest room inside our
… read more house, they stay in a self-contained camper. This camper is very clean, warm, and well-maintained—certainly not "falling apart." Many Workaways have stayed in it comfortably, and we have provided photos on our profile to reassure future travellers.
Regarding the work, we were very clear from our very first message that we are renovating our front porch, which is outdoors. Perhaps there was a misunderstanding about this, but at no point did we discuss any work beyond this project.
Finally, it is disappointing that rather than communicating any concerns with us, Tom and Oke left after less than an hour, saying they were going for a walk to the beach, only to take their bags and leave without a word. They did not respond to messages or calls, and their feedback is the first and only communication we have had from them since. The Workaway experience is built on mutual respect and open communication, and unfortunately, they did not uphold this standard.
That said, they seemed like truly lovely young men, and we recognise that this was both their first Workaway experience and their first time travelling. Adjusting to new experiences can be challenging, and we hope they will learn from this and develop better communication skills in the future.
We take great care in hosting Workaways and have welcomed many who have had positive experiences. We remain committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment for travellers who embrace new opportunities with an open mind and a spirit of respect and communication.

We had the worst experience we could have imagined. While the hosts were kind and welcoming, our low expectations were still not met. We were asked to stay in a used mobile home that was already falling apart, and it was filthy and uninhabitable. The work was not limited to just renovation, as stated, but we were also expected to do outdoor labor,

I stayed with the lovely family for a month in November 2024. For me it was the first time working as a workawayer and I am very grateful 🙏 to have found such a relaxed, nice and uncomplicated family who also chose me. I tried to leave something lasting behind with my help so that my stay with the family was worth it, I think I did a good job :) I

When the sun was there, I was able to spend the day outside for excursions or in the lovely cafe and then worked longer the next day. If you needed a car for the next city, i was happy to use it if it wasn't needed. 🙏 I also didn't know how much you could participate in family life with the family, I had no expectations, just that I would feel comfortable, and that has definitely come true. We ate together at the table in the evening, either Karen cooked or one of the workawayers, we went to events together in the evenings like stand-up comedy, music evenings, a private birthday, etc. and I loved the fireplace in the living room and just being there to sit. I often went hiking with the other Workawyers, I love the forest in this area 🥰 like in a fairy tale, I often went to the sea 💫 and was able to have some time for myself. Karen is a very loyal, uncomplicated, attentive and helpful person who responds to people and gives a lot of leeway. In between, I spontaneously stayed with another family for a few days and this made me see how different a stay like this can be and I was very happy when I came “home” to the family. I felt very comfortable with Rhyan and Karen and I am happy to accept the invitation to come again ☺️🙏💫Laissé par l'hôte pour le workawayer (Betty)
Betty stayed with us for one wonderful month, and we couldn't have asked for a better Workawayer. She helped immensely with household organization tasks, tackling everything with enthusiasm and care. Betty was kind, funny, and great company—we truly miss her now that she’s gone. Polite, clean, and quiet, she fit into our home effortlessly.

Betty’s love of nature and openness to new experiences made her a joy to host, and we loved sharing our little forested corner of Canada with her. We are very sad that she didn't see any whales or bears while she was here (she will just have to come back!). She worked hard and brought a little piece of Germany to us with her delicious herring and pickle potato salad recipe—what a treat! We’d be thrilled to welcome her back again in the summer, when the forests and ocean are even more beautiful. We are so grateful for her help, kindness, and the joy she brought to the "Creek." Highly recommended!
