Description
We are an English couple who left London to begin a crazy adventure building an ostrich farm in Bulgaria. Some years on, and now with 2 kids (13 and 9 years old) we have downsized from the commercial ostrich farm so we are not looking for help with the business, only help to look after the pets and maintain the homestead. We continue to care for a range of animals (a small flock of ostriches, Emu's, guinea pigs, guinea fowl). We also have 2 dogs and 4 cats, so plenty of friendly pets to keep you company!
We aim to live in a self-sufficient way and we are working on creating a Food Forest with fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs and forage greens. We are cultivating an organic veg garden and frequently make preserves from our produce.
We ask a minimum of 2 weeks but we really like volunteers who can stay longer. The more time you spend with us the more effective you can be and the more you will take from the experience. Throughout the year there will be periods of activity and periods of quiet. During the active times there will be interesting and varied maintenance projects to work on, during the quiet times we really only need pet sitters to keep our furries company and keep the place ticking over. When you get in touch, let us know whether you are interested in the active or the pet sitting role, so we can plan accordingly!
We need dependable, independent and diligent people as you will be responsible for caring for our pets (who all have names!). If you are looking for a place to be emersed in nature with animals to keep you company, you have found the right place....and only a short bus ride from the city and the beach!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre
