Description
We are a group of four working professionals (25–35 years old, male and female) living in a peaceful homestead in Black Creek, Comox Valley. We lead an active and wholesome lifestyle and love the outdoors, creativity, and learning new ways of living and being. We enjoy sharing meals, conversations, skills, and wellness practices with our helpers.
Our property has a beachy, garden-filled vibe, with access to local trails within a 5-minute walk, multiple beaches 10–15 minutes away, Miracle Beach Provincial Park 10 minutes away, and the Oyster River about 30 minutes on foot. The grocery store and cafés are a 30-minute walk, and a bus stop just 1 minute from the house runs 4–6 times a day.
The environment is quiet, natural, and inspiring — perfect for people who want to connect with nature, learn, and contribute.
Our long-term goal is to improve our property, build meaningful projects, and create a lifestyle that is interconnected with the environment. Helpers can expect a welcoming, collaborative, and flexible atmosphere with opportunities for excursions and shared meals.
Accommodation is in a private 1970s Boler trailer (heated, insulated, best for someone under 6ft), with full access to the house kitchen, bathroom, shower, and common areas. Breakfast and dinner are provided, but cooking can be negotiated as part of work.
We value respect, communication, collaboration, sustainability, and continuous learning, with quiet hours from 10 PM to 8 AM.

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Cultural exchange is at the heart of our hosting experience. We value shared meals, open conversations, and learning from different perspectives.
Helpers are invited to take part in daily life, including cooking, gardening, and wellness practices such as yoga. We often do tasks side by side, allowing for natural conversation, skill sharing, and learning in a relaxed environment. Weekly check-ins help ensure everyone feels supported and aligned.
We enjoy exchanging knowledge around:
• Holistic and nature-connected living
• Gardening, permaculture, and homesteading
• Plant knowledge, local ecology, and Indigenous ways of knowing
• Wellness practices, movement, and mindful living
We also love learning from our helpers — whether that’s cultural traditions, languages, food, skills, or new perspectives on sustainable living. Skill-sharing is welcomed but never expected.
Living close to beaches, forests, rivers, and trails offers plenty of opportunities for nature immersion, and we aim to organize a local excursion about once a week to explore the area and connect with the wider community.
Hosting is a two-way exchange for us — about connection, curiosity, and learning together.
Aide
We’re looking for helpers who enjoy hands-on, outdoor, and creative tasks and are interested in learning through shared projects, rather than completing tasks on a tight schedule.
Current projects include:
• Assisting with owner-led, small-scale building projects such as a sauna and greenhouse
• Learning and helping with basic construction skills (measuring, prepping materials, organizing, finishing work)
• Painting, landscaping, and general property improvements
• Gardening and homesteading tasks such as watering, weeding, planting, and caring for outdoor spaces
• Reclaiming and organizing wood and materials for reuse
All construction projects are guided and collaborative, with helpers assisting based on interest and ability. No prior experience is required, and helpers are never expected to replace skilled or paid trades. Some technical or specialized tasks are handled by the host or professionals.
Help is typically 4–5 hours per day, 5 days a week, with flexibility based on weather, energy, and flow. Helpers are encouraged to ask questions, learn at their own pace, and are always free to decline tasks they’re uncomfortable with.
This exchange is about learning, collaboration, and shared experience, not productivity or deadlines.

Hébergement
Helpers will stay in a private 1970s Boler trailer or, if preferred, a tent on the property, both equipped with a comfortable mattress. The Boler is best suited for singles or couples/friends under 6 feet tall. It is heated, insulated, and suitable year-round, providing a cozy and unique space.
Helpers have full access to the house, including kitchen, bathroom, shower, living spaces, and Wi-Fi. Bedding options are available for comfort, and limited storage is provided — just ask the host. Please note that other bedrooms in the house are private and off-limits.
We provide breakfast and dinner, prepared by the host, though helpers can sometimes join in cooking as part of the exchange.
The property offers a cozy, purposeful, communal vibe with beachy and garden surroundings. Outdoor spaces include a large garden, deck, fire pit, and trails, with easy access to nearby fields, beaches, rivers, and forested areas — perfect for relaxation or exploring in your free time.
