Description
We started this homestead with the dream of reconnecting to nature, building a sustainable life and spread love around the neighbourhood and society. We are located not too far from the city centre (20km) and reachable by public transportation and a little bit of walking, it happens to be in a 100 year old village, so things might be a little quiet on a normal day. Places of interests such as cultural and modern ones ie. Batu caves Hindu temple, Chinese Thean Hou temple and modern ones such as the Twin Towers and Putrajaya Mosque is about 45 mins - 1hour ride away.
Our Cultural Exchange Experience:
Our homestead is not just a regular farm; it is a combination of the past, present and the future of sustainable living. As I am a 3rd generation of Malaysian of Chinese descent, we are all very local and preserved our dialects and cultures from centuries ago.
Though we still have much to learn, these are several activities we share with our guests:
🍜 Malaysian-Chinese cooking — simple, fresh dishes inspired by our heritage.
🧧 Discover local culture — festivals, daily customs, tea traditions, and maybe even some Hokkien or Malay phrases.
🌿 Explore sustainable living — hands-on urban farming, composting, and simple eco-living practices as well as indoor-farming
☕ Meet locals & travellers — our place is open to friends and guests; on weekends, we will have festive celebrations, cooking sessions, and friends' gatherings
🛶 Experience Kajang & the 100-year-old village — from the local wet and night markets to temples and lake (an ex-mining pool)
The help we need:
Keep our plants ALIVE (by watering and caring for them daily)
Helping in the outdoor kitchen during community events (cooking, cleaning, prepping).
Helping out in landscaping / improving the garden at our place
Keep our fishes and chickens well fed
In return, we provide:
A private cabin during your stay (but you have to sleep with our indoor plants)
Home-grown fresh produce that you helped to care for
Lessons on indoor farming
Though our homestead is small compared to other farms, we care for it with a BIG heart 💛 !! 🏡Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

A 10 ft by 20 ft cabin, you will have all by yourself (sharing with our indoor plants) with proper ventilation due to the hot weather
A common bathroom we all share (along with bidet & hot water)
I may not be around all the time to supervise or cook meals for volunteers. However, I provide rice, noodles and bread, alongside farm grown vegetables that you can harvest to cook if you want. Besides, there are food stalls nearby that are delicious and affordable (USD2-3 per meal). You will be surprised by how low the cost of living is around here. On some days, I will prepare some local meals of popular local cuisines for you to try out.

Our place is 5 minutes walk to the nearest market, and 30 minutes walk to town. Temples, cafes, parks and convenience stores are all within 10-20 minutes radius. Public transport (MRT & KTM) and e-hailing (Grab) can take you to Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, or nearby nature spots on your days off. We have also 2 bicycles for you to use as well.
We keep the house clean and respectful — please be mindful of shared spaces, no smoking indoors, and help keep things tidy after meals. We enjoy meaningful conversations, cultural sharing, and a calm, homely vibe where everyone feels welcome and safe. Also, we live in a traditional neighbourhood, so rude and noisy behaviour is not allowed.Informations complémentaires
