Description
The farms consists of the retreat (next to Aya Rock) and the Public Creative Space. It was born from the desire to create a place to Expand Life Force Energy. It means Expansion of Lifeforce. The land itself is a sacred space containing ancient cave paintings and represents a gathering point to expand and celebrate our unique gifts, talents and experience the joy of life. It took 5 years before the right land found me and now the dream of creating a place for deep connections and expansion is unfolding.
The Public Space symbolises a space for free expression, creativity and expansion of creative energies through modalities like movement and dance, meditation, music, art, play and more.

Seek workaway persons interested in building new spaces (construction, timber) , farming (planting trees and irrigation) and permaculture and vegetable garden and getting involved in creative workshop space (Art Barn) and the creation of the off-grid space

If you would like to stay connected you can follow progress of the Farm and retreat
1. This is the public workshop space that is being built now ~ 300 sqm of workshop space
2. This is the sacred site and offgrid space to commune with self, nature and others

Live in Natural setting (500 hectares) , learn about building retreat centre and launching a annual festival. Work and live with local farm caretaker and people who assisting with the build (e.g. Strawbale, sand bag builds, permaculture landscaping). We next to one of the best left surf breaks in South Africa (Elands bay) . So if you enjoy surfing this is a good place to be. Learn farming and work with local caretakers on the farm who assisting int he build and establishing the retreat centre and prototype for a conscious festival centred around gifting principles (our talents and soul shine).

Building a retreat centre based on natural builds and permaculture principles. Embedding sacred geometry in the land structures and layout and connecting deeply with the land, nature and ancestral spirit. Looking for inquisitive souls looking to assist in build (eco houses, other structures, landscaping, managing farm and general build projects). Specifically looking for anyone to assist on helping with retreat openings/event and annual festival gathering. Seeking spiritually minded persons who ready to plugged into the build and expand consciousness to this area (light and love)

Stay in communal farm house ( bedroom and personal/shared bathroom )

Meals to be arrange by workaways (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Possibility of organising communal dinners (to be explored with you when on-site).
NOTE: The farm is in a remote location and nearest big town is ~45 to 60 min drive away (Piketberg / Lambertsbay / Clanwillian). Possibility to cycle to nearest small town (Redelinghuys 10km away to get basic essentials (bread, milk, etc).
Please Plan Ahead : Workaways would need to plan ahead to bring in food for their stay duration (e.g. stock up and buy food from bigger towns)
Preferably to have transportation (Car) , otherwise public transport is very sporadic and private taxis can be expensive to visit bigger towns for food / supply visits.

We are in rural setting and about 15 min from best left surf point break in South Africa (Elandsbay). Deep history in the area (rock paintings) (e.g. Diep Kloof) . Rural setting , world class rock climbing 1 hour away (Rock lands).

This was my first Workaway experience and it was Tim’s first time as a Workaway host. Due to complex circumstances, Tim could only be at the farm for two of the ten nights of my stay. Most of the time, the farm is managed by Timo, who is the caretaker and who lives in a small hut next to the farmhouse with his partner, Alison. Timo is hard… read more working, inquisitive, a fast learner and has a smile that can lift the cloudiest of days.

I was fortunate that another Workaway, Mael had arrived shortly before me. If it wasn’t for Mael’s company, guitar playing, lively conversation, and wicked sense of humour, I think I would have struggled with the lack of interaction. The farm house is spacious and comfortable: the beds are big, the shower has good pressure and there is a bath. The internet works well, even during load shedding. There is no washing machine, so you will need to do this by hand, using the buckets provided (there is something very charming about sitting on the back step, your arms in suds, the sun going down and the chickens scurrying about your feet!). The kitchen implements are very basic, so if you’re into making bread and cakes and biscuits and pastries, you’ll need your ingenuity!

The property is remote and transport would have been useful (neither Mael or myself - or Timo and Alison had transport). As a knock-on from this, it was a huge challenge to put food on the table. That said, I understand that going forward there will be some basic supplies available for future Workaways - along with the use of a bike/s - and this will make a big difference in terms of ensuring the basic needs for the Workaways are met and offering a more even balance to offset the skills, energy, time and patience that the Workaways bring to projects of this type.

There’s an 8.00 am meeting with Timo to discuss the daily tasks and a weekly task list (weeding; planting grass; making fences; tending to the compost; planting trees; bottle cutting; plant propagation; making films…) Most importantly, there’s scope to instigate your own projects and ideas. Tim is very easygoing and flexible and stays in touch via weekly online meetings. The off-shoot projects that Timo, Mael and I worked on included creating a circular waffle garden to cultivate local medicinal plants; putting together a taxonomy of the plants growing within a specific grid area; laying the foundations for future biodynamic production (including BD500 preparation); creating a huge Tree of Life Sculpture and meditation focal point in the Art Barn; creating personal art pieces, stories and signs which are now integrated into a permanent installation. We also shared several group meditation’s and everything aligned to enable two shamanic journeys as well.

The farm setting is beautiful. The mountains are stunning. The air is fresh and clean and the sunsets are simply jaw dropping. It is the kind of place that allows the possibility for deep soul exploration alongside the practical tasks. There is potential for significant personal growth, but this will be dependent on how much of yourself you are able to give to the project.

Tim and Chrissy are beautiful souls who radiate light and it was a definite highlight when they were able to join us towards the end of my stay and the evening of music and food by the campfire at Aya Rock brought a perfect end to my time here. (Thank you for the lift back to Cape Town 🙏🏻)

I will look back on my experience here as one of growth, laughter, deep discussions, and forming strong connections with the land and the people around me. Timo, Mael, Tim, Chrissy and myself formed a strong connection and I’m confident that we will all see each other again one day.
