An amazing place, with amazing people!
I totally agree with the other volunteers, this is such a nice experience because both the island and the families that populate it are the best. I stayed with Dario's family for three weeks and was fortunate enough that it included the epic Ferragosto. I was able to learn a lot about their culture, learn a
… read more lot of Italian, and try their amazing cuisine! All of the people that I met at Dario's place were really nice, and it is probably that which makes the experience so unique, you are treated like a family member by everybody because they are all like one very big family. I really hope I can meet them again in the future.
I had the best summer on the beautiful island of Pantelleria with its crystal clear water, its parties, and the company of everyone I met, grazie mille per tutto!

During our stay, we worked on meaningful projects, such as laying the foundation and painting a swimming pool, providing us with a refreshing place to relax, and painting a boat. Besides these big projects, we also started another task that the next volunteer will continue — We wish them great success :))
Daily chores like cleaning the pool, picking up leaves, watering plants, taking out the trash, general cleaning, and dishwashing were part of our routine, especially after fun gatherings.
We really enjoyed our time at Dario’s and became very fond of them. We are looking forward to returning as soon as we can, as we believe everyone should experience this island with such wonderful people.

While I was on Pantelleria, I was lucky enough to stay with a great family, who were very generous to me and included me in all of their adventures. Dario is a fun-loving dj who plays in clubs and beach bars around the island. I went to many of his gigs, and he always created a great atmosphere with his music. Ema is an elegant and kind woman.
… read more Their boys are very sweet and handsome, and I'm certain that they will break many girls' hearts when they are older!
Their property is an idyllic haven, which overlooks the sea, and it is filled with amenities such as a beautiful pool and sound system, private yurta, pizza oven and air con. It is located approximately 4k from the main town.
I originally had planned on staying in Pantelleria for just 10 days. But Dario and his family and friends made me feel so welcome that I stayed for almost 5 weeks.
The work I was asked to do was fair: house cleaning, gardening, and taking care of the children and dogs. The food I was given was always to a really high standard. On several occasions, Dario's mother came to the house and cooked for us. She has a local restaurant on the island, and she is an incredibly skilled cook. I tried many new traditional meals thanks to the family, and they were happy to show me how to make the recipes, too. Dario's carbonara and his mother's fried breaded aubergine were my favourites!
The island is spectacular, and there are several beautiful places to visit. There are plenty of opportunities to do fun things, too. Several times, I was taken to restaurants, house parties, clubs, a concert, and even a day trip on their boat!
I fell in love with Pantelleria while I was there. If you have an opportunity to visit this volcanic paradise, you should take it! I will miss this place, I will miss the family, their 3 adorable dogs, and the friends that I made while I was there! I hope that I can return some day! Dario and Emanuela are truly special people. They gave me a workaway experience unlike any previously because they included me in all their events, invited me to their parties, and took me to the beach each day with their children from 1 pm-6 pm. They are include their volunteers and want them to have fun after they have put in the 5 hours of

They even had to tell me “take a break!” The work you are expected to do is: to do loads of laundry, to wash dishes of the party guests, to babysit a group of children one night or two nights a week, to clean the pool each morning, to clean 3 bathrooms one time every two days and to sweep floors inside and leaves outside. Other than that, you have the afternoon free to explore the beaches of Pantelleria with them and swim as much as you please. Volunteers sleep in an air conditioned YURTA which I really liked because it was my personal space. 10 days of August you sleep inside their home in an alcove. This family is very sociable and has lots of friends with whom they have aperitivo and you the volunteer are welcome among them. Dario is a DJ so it’s also fun for music lovers. I recommend this family. Their son’s are dynamic and full of personality, the couple is absolutely relaxed and chill, and very hospitable. Hugs to you!
Questa coppia è speciale, rilassata, e inclusiva. Vogliono che i loro volontari si divertano e che si sentano parte delle festività. I loro due figli sono dinamici e pieni di personalità. Li adoro, Ogni giorno dopo le mie 5 ore di lavoro, Dario e Emanuela mi dicevano “prenditi una pausa!!!!” E mi offrono sempre una birra o un cocktail. I compiti sono di pulire la piscina ogni mattina, di fare il bucato, di lavare i piatti, di spazzare per terra dentro casa d fuori casa sui terrazzi, e di pulire i 3 bagni ogni 2 giorni. Dopodiché ti portano con loro a fare bagni quasi ogni giorno nelle spiagge più belle di Pantelleria facendoti scoprire l’isola per quante spiagge diverse visitano. I volontari dormano in una YURTA con un condizionatore dell’aria- mi è piaciuta perché mi dava spazio personale. Devi fare la babysitter per un gruppo di bambini Una sera o due sere alla settimana ma sono amici fra di loro e così si comportano bene insieme.
