    Description

On the edge of a small village in Einrich, I live with my husband, (our son is often here on the weekends) my incredibly shy cat, a lot of birds, reptiles, trees, herbs, vegetable garden and many good spirits. I love living here and hope to die here one day. We have an eco-house, are integrated into our landscape and do our best to leave a very small footprint - carbon or otherwise. My garden is also my family and like all families, you can't always choose your relatives. But we try to live and let live.
Spiritually, physically and daily, we do our best to be good human beings: compassionate, curious, respectful and humorous. We follow the so-called Red Road of Lakota Teachings, so while you're here, there may well be a Sweat Lodge or two. While there is no obligation to participate, we do expect you to be respectful (of all spiritual paths) and, at best, have a good sense of humor. If you are interested in participating, you are most welcome. I might even be able to answer your questions.
We have launched a long-term, cooperative, biotope project which entails planting (to start) 16 fruit trees and 32 hedge plants, all indigenous and organic. The one-day harvestable fruits and nuts are free for everyone in our village. The values we hope to gradually instill are mutual respect and care, cooperation with the more-than-human world, community spirit, resilience.
We are omnivores as long as our food is organic. In the summer months we eat from the garden and are determined to stretch the season as far as possible. I love to cook and do so daily. Vegan, vegetarian and omnivorous - we love good food! I, personally, am lactose and gluten-free.

This is where the pepper grows (and the zucchini, serviceberry, lettuce, tame and wild herbs, tomatoes, flowers...). There is space to lounge, weed, read and a relatively large video library and projector. When you come to us, the main highlight is us - you and us. Languages, spiritual practices, culinary arts, gardening and plant science, hiking, music, films, poems....

There are two or three things we need help with. Since both of us are well over 60 and our son is not always available, we need help with some of the heavy lifting involved in living ecologically.
For one, we cut, split, transport and cure our own firewood. You must be able to (safely) swing an axe and don't mind physically demanding work or creepy-crawlies turning up unexpectedly.
Then there is the garden, which we are continuously learning about and, as all living things, requires steady attention. Less so in winter, but there's always something to do inside or out. In winter more inside than out - painting, mosaic-making, renovating in general.
And lastly, there is our project ZUSAMMENWACHSEN: an orchard-to-be with a long hedge, a shed for rainwater collection and endless potential for inclusion of all types of miniature biotopes to invite, observe, promote diversity of life forms.

Your bed is in the nest - there's a short, steep ladder - and lies directly under the skylight. Below is your space. Although there is no door to close, there is a screen providing privacy. Since we spend most our time downstairs or outside, you will have the upstairs primarily to yourself except at night and on the few occasions when Detlef is on his computer. You have your own desk, a sofa and overstuffed chair.
We all share the bathrooms, - one upstairs, one downstairs - the kitchen and living space, the garden space.

You can go hiking here. The Jammertal offers many hiking trails through very lively landscapes. We have a home cinema, good books in English and German, a sofa on the terrace, very well filtered water. Public transportation is very limited, but there are 2 good bicycles and possibly a car sharing car. You can easily walk into town if you are a good walker.

Hier kannst Du ausgezeichnet wandern.
