  Description

  Hello! We’re Narelle and Tim, and we live on our commercial dairy farm in rural Taranaki.
  
  Our home is a unique converted schoolhouse that is over 100 years old and full of character. We have a swimming pool to enjoy in summer and a spa that’s perfect after a day exploring the region.
  
  Our farm is home to around 370 cows, and around the house we also have a few pets, including cats, a dog and chooks.
  
  The dairy farm is primarily run by Narelle, while Tim works in the oil and gas industry. We both enjoy the rural lifestyle and the variety that comes with living in the country.
  
  Although we live on a working commercial dairy farm, Workawayers won't be expected to undertake dairy farm work.
  
  We're very happy, however, to show you around the farm, introduce you to the cows and give you an insight into how a New Zealand dairy farm operates. We also use virtual fencing technology on the farm, which is an interesting part of our modern farming system. If you're interested in farming, you're welcome to come along, have a look around and ask questions — we enjoy sharing what we do.
  
  The practical help we currently need is around our private home and property. At the moment, this includes making firewood. Full instruction and training will be provided, so previous experience isn't necessary.
  
  We're looking for practical, independent people who enjoy being outdoors and are happy to make themselves at home. We're always happy to have a chat and get to know the people staying with us, but we're also comfortable giving you plenty of space to enjoy your own adventures.
  
  We're located in a peaceful rural area with easy access to Mount Taranaki, beautiful beaches, walking tracks, gardens and many of Taranaki's other attractions.
  
  Our place would suit couples, friends travelling together or independent solo travellers. Having your own vehicle is a real advantage, as it makes exploring Taranaki much easier.
  
  If you enjoy country life, being outdoors and experiencing something a little different from the usual tourist experience, we'd love to welcome you and share a taste of rural New Zealand.

  Staying with us is really about experiencing everyday life on a New Zealand dairy farm.
  
  We enjoy getting to know the people who stay with us, sharing a meal and hearing about where they've come from and what they've been up to. We hope Workawayers leave with a genuine insight into rural Kiwi life, and we enjoy learning a bit about their part of the world too.

  Aide

  We are quite flexible with help hours and are happy to plan around travel plans and adventures where possible. We generally aim for an average of around 3 hours per day in exchange for accommodation and meals. The help required at the moment is largely making firewood (full training will be provided) and other light household property tasks. We try to match tasks to people's interests and abilities wherever possible. Please note volunteers will not be asked to help with farm related tasks.

  We can accommodate couples, friends travelling together, or solo travellers. We have two double bedrooms available, and additional single beds can be made available if required for a larger group.
  
  Guests share a bathroom and have access to unlimited WiFi, the swimming pool (summer), and spa.
