Agroforestry & Airport Retreat Startup – Learn Sustainable Gardening and Hospitality
We are a privately owned agroforestry and hospitality startup located near Sri Lanka’s international airport. Our project combines traditional Kandyan forest garden principles with a small but growing personalized airport stopover business. We offer slow life garden retreat experiences and nature education for travelers who wish to experience authentic rural Sri Lanka.
This is a for-profit business model. We believe sustainability and profitability must go together in order to create long-term impact. Our aim is to demonstrate that ecological gardening and hospitality can be financially viable while protecting nature.
We are not an NGO or a charity project. It is a structured business environment where we work toward measurable outcomes while maintaining a peaceful and nature-connected lifestyle.
In our garden we maintain a strict no-plastic policy because recycling facilities are limited in this rural area. Therefore Workawayers are expected to avoid bringing or using single-use plastics or polythene within the garden.
Part of our business philosophy is differentiation through quality. We focus on customer experience, ecological balance, healing environments, and transformation while creating opportunities for rural communities. Hygiene, respect, neat and tidy surroundings, aesthetics, and creativity are important values in our hospitality approach. Workawayers who appreciate and respect this culture will benefit the most from the experience.
Our meals may include eggs, fish, or chicken. We are not a vegan property, but dietary preferences can be discussed in advance.
We welcome practical, solution-oriented individuals who respect both sustainability and entrepreneurship.

Staying with us will be a great opportunity to explore the semi- rural life and culture of Sri Lankans. Our workawayers will witness and participate the traditional village life which include farming and gardening. Also, the cultural and religious events usually take place, including performances of traditional Sri Lankan music and dance. We are located 30 min away from historical landmarks of ancient Sri Lankan kingdom which is easy to see the remains of Sri Lankan cultural and historical evolution.
Aide
We love to connect with workawayers who are interested in gardening related tasks, like maintaining garden beds, weed control, watering the plants, grooming vanilla wines, pepper picking, hedge sheering, helping housekeeping tasks,... etc, Since we are transforming to a healing resort based on garden retreat, volunteers could help us with healing, making herbs, housekeeping and other day today acitivities in the process. If you are good at working on internet platforms, data analysis , would also be immensely helpful as we want to offer healing as a service from the garden - globally. We also need help for enhancing garden aesthetics , woodworking, painting, dog training, music, yoga, movie making, story recording, songwriting, or English lessons for our staff or any other specific skills are valued.

Hébergement
At this place, we provide our workawayers , clean, safe and comfortable room for accommodation. Our workawayers will get very calm and peacefull space for rest and also deicious home cooked meals prepared with love, using herbs, greens, fruits harvested from the garden. Depending of the preference of workawayers they will get a unique chance to get an outdoor shower experience hidden among trees and shrubs. It will be more like a homestay close to nature giving our workaways different kind of an experience deeply connect to this land.

During leisure time, there are many attractive places to explore and hang around in our area. The ancient ruins of the Kingdom of Dambadeniya rock located in a top of mountain and adjoining temple preserving centuries old wall art. And, for beach lovers, Negombo is 50 min away if anyone wish to sit in a pub while tasting a cocktail and listen live instrumental music and songs by the beachside or have a delicious seafood or westernized dinner. In this area public transport is easily accessible, busses are frequently running during the period start from 4.00 am and to 9.00 pm of the day. Uber and Pick me is not very common where the garden is located, but it is also available to find within few kilometers away. If expected to travel quickly can call for a local tuk tuk driver as well.

Yes. If you are expecting to visit with your pets, we will welcome you without any doubt, but you need higher supervision over them, have the whole responsibility of the safety of your pet including food and water. Further we kindly expect that your pets should not be disturbance for other animals dwell in the surrounding.
