    Description

Welcome to join us at our beautiful organic farm in the charming and quiet departement of Lot, in the southwestern region of France!
Here lives me, Jean Luc, and my wife Cathy, together with 3 donkeys, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
We were born in this area and have lived here in Saint Cernin as organic farmers for the last 30 years.
Here on the farm we grow a rich diverse of vegetables and fruits all year around.
You will also meet Stephane and his dog Lo Can, which works on the farm everyday during weekdays. You will be in a team with playing dogs, courious cuddly donkeys and cats, singing birds, happy worms in the soil and passionated farmers :)

We have been hosting volunteers since 2007 and are very happy to welcome people from all over the world; not only because we need as many helping hands as we can get, but also because we love meeting diverse and interesting people. It's very important for us to communicate with others about the danger of non-natural food, the disappearing of our trade (small, local farming), and share the joys and rewards of our magnificent work as organic farmers. I also love to show the hidden stunning nature spots, make adventures (Im very interested in climbing and very happy to bring you to a climbing cliff in the area to climb together..!), and also show the very many old beautiful villages in the area..

You will help us in our farm with easy and small jobs like planting crops, working with seedlings, helping at local markets , giving foods to the animals, tending the garden, ect.
The host season start in the end of February and run until late October.
In the early spring, the help will consist mostly in the cultivation of seedlings, then from April until mid June it's the right time to plant all our vegetables so it's ready by summertime, which follows by continuous ongoing cultivation of seedling, planting and harvest. All around the year we go to the market once a week and twice in summertime, and every week we organize our own market at the farm.

In addition to learn and take part of the life on an organic farm, you get the opportunity to dive into our customs, like Occitan language, local food, traditional dances (Cathy is a dance teacher and every week there is a possibility to join the weekly evening dance course, and to join a bigger traditional dance meeting "Bal" that happens now and then in the area), and much more.

We ask for four to five hours of daily assistance in the morning until lunchtime, Monday to Friday. Lunch we eat together, prepared by me or Cathy (vegetarian delicous dishes with fresh new harvested crops from the farm). Afternoon you are free to discover the area, welcome to borrow a bike!
In the summertime, in case of incredibly hot days (above 35C°), we work earlier in the morning (7 to 10 am) and have a longer break, where we all together can enjoy a trip to a river or lake, with a picnic and a refreshing dip in the water! We will then work for some hours in the evening, so that we avoid the hottest and most exhausting hours of the day.

You will be accomodated in an independent studio that is both comfortable and well equipped (kitchen / living room + bathroom, washing machine + bedroom) heated and near our home. From Monday to Friday, all lunches are eaten with Cathy, myself, and all other volunteerts in our home. We will provide you with high quality organic ingredients to prepare your own breakfast and dinner.
Wi-fi is available on the farm!

We wish you to stay at least 14 days, longer to prefer, to get the most out of your time here.
We happily welcome you that brings an opened mind, have an interest or curiosity about ecology, organic farming, local values and traditions, healthy lifestyle and an appreciation for the nourishing nature we are living with..
That being said, we prefer to invite happy, communicative and honest people most of all!

We can communicate in French, Spanish and English, we prefer that you are able to converse at least a little bit with us in French. Catalan's people, whose language is quite close with our native language, Occitan, is warmly welcome since we love to keep Occitan alive!

You are welcome to contact us for more information about us and the farm, the activities to do on and around the farm (bike, swim, climb, dance...).
We want you to have the memory of a super stay here and are happy to meet your interests and wishes duing your stay here!

Thank you in advance and warmly welcome!
