Julie, Jon and their two boys are such a lovely family. I could not imagine a better place to stay for my first workaway experience.
Next to the beautiful landscape around their home you have nice hiking-tracks as well as a lake for fishing,… in front of the door.
Their 3 dogs are really nice and i really enjoined to take a walk with them.
I
… read more helped Julie by painting and renovating their little cabine in the forest which was a really nice project. ;)
Next to the “working-part” i joined them for a weekend in their cabine, went to the beehives to take the honey home (together with Julie of course ;) ) and did lots of more cool stuff for the really fist time. In general they really try to make you happy by considering your interests or giving you the opportunity to join their daily routines and hobbies (like football or hunting training).
hopefully i can come back to see you again and maybe to take a look at the cabine then as well.
Tusen takk for everything☺️Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

I had a great time at Julie and Jon’s place. It was very adventurous for me – living in a cabin, heating it on my own, cabin weekends away with cross country skiing, shooting with an air gun and moose meat :)
Julie and Jon both cook really well and are super lovely people. The location of their farm is also really nice, as there is a lake (frozen
… read more in winter and great to walk on) right in front of it.
Their kids Johan and Jacob are also really great and they want you to join them with playing, sledding or skiing. They are really open-minded and the lack in Norwegian and English on both side was no problem as it is easy to communicate with children by using gestures and sings. And they are learning English real quick by just listening.
Julie and Jon try to make your stay as lovely as possible, though you have to keep in mind you have to be really independent and autonomous as they might not always have time for you. You need to know how to spend time on your own and find fun things to do for yourself. Unfortunately, they were not able to show me/practice with me how to train dogs even though I was expecting/hoping for that. But I guess that is life in a busy family. However, you are always welcome to join them in their activities, such as going to the children’s practice or going to the gym.
You just have to talk and communicate with them in order clarify what is expected from each other, also what counts as work and what is free time. In my case this was not clarified enough from the beginning, e.g. I thought walking the dogs, helping preparing the food, cooking, helping in the kitchen, fetching wood from the shed etc. also counts in the 5 hours of work every day. But I bet this will be better discussed with the next workawayers :)
They make their own honey, hunt their meat, bake bread - so great and delicious.
Julie picked me up from the train station and dropped me off again at the end. They also let me use their car when needed.
Their three dogs are soooo great, very cuddly and sweet. Keep in mind that they are strong hunting dogs and not house dogs such as a golden retriever or a breed like that. It was such a great experience with them.
You need to like the ‘outdoor life’, also because you have to heat the cabin with wood (almost all day long) in order to have it nice and warm in the evening when you go to sleep. I was there in March when it was about -10 to 3+ degrees outside. I absolutely loved the experience in the cabin and it is also nice furnished.
All in all, I am very happy I did this workaway stay with Jon and Julie. They are great hosts and I hope I can come back and visit again :) TAK !Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
