Description
We have space during April and throughout 2025 to live at one of our cat shelters in the town of Dahab on the Gulf of Aqaba.
We are also looking for a manager. If you have experience of shelters and are available for a period of at least a month please contact me and we can discuss terms.
We rescue sick, injured and vulnerable cats and kittens, get them healthy, neutered and vaccinated and then repatriate those that can survive on the streets. For those who can't, we keep at the shelter or have adopted.
The aim of our small non-profit is to have a healthy and well cared-for population of cats and look after those that can't look after themselves. We find adopters, medicate and treat the cats, take in abandoned kittens, neuter and spay, prepare cats for travel, offer hotel facilities when owners are travelling and give help and advice to the community.
We have 2 simple home based sanctuaries and currently care for around 60 cats. Our work is entirely funded by donations and every penny raised goes to help the hundreds of cats here. We keep our overheads low by recycling, upcycling and using inexpensive options and volunteers. We face a lot of challenges and the work can be both upsetting and rewarding.
We would like to welcome volunteers who are available to stay between 2 and 6 weeks. We provide good accommodation, utilities and wifi but not food. We ask for 25 hours per week and encourage everyone to enjoy Dahab in their spare time. There's so much to discover here. We need self motivated and managed volunteers who care about cats and can give them plenty of love.
We would love vets and trainee vets to come and work with us and would consider shorter periods of time for their volunteering.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We have a one level bedouin house with an enclosed garden. It has a well equipped kitchen with cooker, washing machine, microwave, freezer, fridge etc. A good size sitting room. A shared bathroom with shower, 2 twin rooms and one single. AC is in both larger rooms
There is plenty of cooking equipment and buying food and preparing meals is easy. But meals out are not expensive and there is plenty of take away and delivery options
The house is in a bedouin area, with goats roaming the streets, very close to shops and just 15 minutes walk to the sea. Taxis are very cheap, but we provide bikes and everything in Dahab is within walking distance
The town is bohemian and rustic. Its a holiday destination predominantly for city based Egyptians and foreign tourists who come to dive. It can be busy and vibrant but there are always quiet places to be found.
You are responsible here for your own wellbeing and safety. We do not have insurance. You should follow your governments advice during these difficult times and have your own insurance.Autres infos...
