Description
I’m building a small pizzeria in the hills of Santiago, in El Arrayán. The place is an old house with around 2 000 m² of land. The help is practical and varied: gardening, cutting and stacking wood, general maintenance, and helping keep the property in order.
At the moment there is no staff; it’s just me running the project and making the pizzas. I live alone on the property with my dog. There is a second house on the land that will be rented later this year, but for now the place is quiet and focused on work.
I lived in Europe for 12 years and did Workaway myself in Bolivia and Ecuador. I had very good experiences and try to offer the same: clear tasks, autonomy, and a calm working environment rather than a touristic one. There are 2 pianos, 3 guitars and a trombon in the house, ideally you can play one of them.
I do workaway because I genuinely like working alongside people, not because I need cheap labor. In exchange for 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week, I offer a real double bed, three meals a day cooked with care — Maldon salt, natural wines, home-roasted coffee, and one pizza night a week from the wood oven, I'm starting to bake bread as well. I'm not running a hostel and this isn't a pasta-and-sauce situation, so if you are not into food this is probably not your place.
What I'm looking for is someone who works like a professional even when the task is pulling weeds. Some of it is physical and repetitive. Some of it needs real judgment. I'll match you to what you're good at
Tell me what you've built, grown, fixed, or made. That's the best way to introduce yourself.

While staying here you will experience a very particular kind of chilean life. You’ll be part of the everyday life of the place which means drinking coffee, working on whatever is needed that day, sharing meals, and once a week or so you’ll help in the small dinners and informal wine tastings I organize at home.
I can teach you how I make pizza in a wood-fired oven, including dough fermentation and the different ferments I use alongside it, such as kimchi, vegetable ferments, and smoked cheeses like scamorza.
I have a strong connection to Chilean terroir that I would like to share with you. I work with local vegetables, seasonal products, and wines from small producers, especially natural wines made by friends. I enjoy sharing what I’ve learned about Chilean wine regions, ingredients, and how they differ from the European canon.
I don’t run this as an employer–employee setup. Workawayers are treated as part of a small team: tasks are clearly defined, autonomy is expected, and time outside work is respected. What I hope to learn from hosting visitors is their way of working, cooking, and seeing things differently — new techniques, habits, or perspectives that naturally come from sharing a place and a food for some time.
Aide
General maintenance, gardening, cooking.
I need help in the garden cleaning weeds, installing water lines, seeding or harvesting depending on the season. Winter is for pruning and deep cleaning, spring seeding, summer harvest and care for the plants. I want to make a few stones pads and plant new trees/reproduce the ones I have.
In the house I have a few projects going on, they all involve a fair bit of carpentry or construction (a new door here, getting rid of a wall there, clearning the mess after). I used to make string instruments, so have a great woodworking workshop.

Hébergement
Your own room with a double bed, shared bathroom, and access to the shared areas of the house. Freshly brewed coffee is provided. 3 meals a day will be provided, with either lunch or dinner cooked by me. There is fresh ground coffee always at hand and you can light the pizza oven as often as you wish.

I'm 1km walking from public transport so it's best if you have your own car or don't mind the walking. Uber works perfectly here if you want to go to "the city".
