My stay at the beautiful place of Inge and Jan-Willen was my first Workaway experience. I stayed for four weeks, longer then my first plan. The place is so peaceful and the hosts let me feel so welkom and safe. I travel and live in my campervan and the view on the foodforest and sunset was incredible.

Pieter is a very friendly, relaxed and helpful individual. He stayed a couple of weeks at our place and it became clear quite fast that he is a nice and neat working person. He took several tasks upon himself, took initiative and worked well. He has great attention for details, is a sensitive person and cooperates in a good way, offering
… read more suggestions and helping out. He also integrated nicely with our family, talking with our daugthers and sharing his experiences. He is most welcome to return in the future!

Volunteering at Inge and Jan Willem's place was a great experience! The description Jan Willem provided is accurate and he organised things really well. I was able to learn about construction and he shares his considerable knowledge about construction and maintains a steady temperament while working.

The atmosphere on the property and around the area is calm and peaceful.
The bus into Croningen doesn't take long. It has a lively atmosphere. I was there in the summer and it was fun!

Peter stayed for a week with our family and blended in right from the start. He is full of stories and adventures, and has a good amount of energy combined with eagerness to help out. We did quite a few chores during his stay, which he did nicely and with energy. He also helped us fix an old guitar and played on it, which gave a nice atmosphere on

I couldn't have asked for better hosts. Jan and Inge have so much knowledge to share, and they are as helpful as could be. They made sure I had everything I needed, was comfortable, and that the work was within my physical limits. We had a lot of fun with it, planting trees, working on fun projects with the kids, and I got to help build a fence
… read more with repurposed natural material. Their vision of planting a food forest is so inspiring. It was great to be a part of. What a special place and what a special family. Anthony has been a great workawayer for us. We kept good contact before he arrived and already chatted about a number of things. He stayed with us for over a week and he put in quite a bit of work for us, despite having symptoms (like ourselves) of long-covid. We think it is brave of him that he decided to take on travelling and working abroad. We
… read more had good talks about lots of things, great collaboration on our homestead and a good connection. We are used to taking on couples, so it was quite a good experience to have Anthony as our first 'single' guest here. He was kind and unobtrusive, respectful and he has a good sense of how to work and what is needed. More often than not, he saw the work before we did and was already looking ahead to the next task. We respect Anthony for his work ethos, kindness and his helpful attitude around our place. We hope to see him come back one day!Feedback

Émilie and Clarice visited us in July 2023 and we were very happy to host them. Communication up front was good. Some people seem to stay away from hosting 'young' travellers, but we had a really good experience with both of them. They are easygoing, happy to learn, have a good work-attitude and were genuinely enthusiastic about getting work done
… read more on our garden and terrain. We felt that they were wise for their age, taking a good and balanced approach to life & travelling.
During their stay, Émilie and Clarice made themselves at home in our campervan, adapting quickly to our daily rhythm and blending into our family life. Not only were they committed to their work, but they also took the initiative to interact with our two daughters. It was very nice to see them spontaneously playing with the girls, bouncing on the trampoline, and even engaging in language exchange by practicing some English together.
Our daughters were sad when they were leaving! So we hope they will visit us again sometime in the future. We would definitely recommend them to any other host.

We spent an amazing week with Inge, Jan Willem, Ella and Vere! They are very nice and generous hosts who always made sure we had everything we needed and wanted! Their daughters are adorable and we had a lot of fun with them:) From the first day, we felt very welcomed in their family!
They are just starting on workaway, so they have a lot of
… read more projects in mind, which means that they have work that can suit everybody! We spent most of our work time weeding and « cleaning » spaces on their property. They always made sure we were comfortable with the work and allowed us to try new things (for example: chopping wood, using electric machines and learning new gardening technics!)
In our free time we could use bikes to go to the lake to swim or walk in the nearby forests! When we spent the day in Groningen, they were very helpful with recommendations!
In all, we really appreciated our time with them and are very grateful for the new experience! We keep good memories and if we ever have the opportunity to come back to Eelde, we wouldn’t hold back to visit them again!
