  Description

  Come and stay with our large, multi-generational family in the beautiful Wicklow countryside.
  Our home is surrounded by nature and is within a bird sanctuary. We have four acres of wild and sometimes rather overgrown gardens within Victorian walls, with vegetable gardens, an orchard and plenty of ongoing projects.
  We are a multi-generational household, with family members ranging from toddlers to teenagers, and adults in their 20s to 70s. Life here can sometimes be busy and lively, with lots of children and people around, but it can also be quiet at times.
  We also have plenty of animals around us chickens, ducks, geese, goats, dogs and cats!
  We enjoy having Workawayers as part of our home.
  Depending on what is going on, evenings might involve chatting over dinner, playing games, having a barbecue or simply relaxing. We also understand that people need their own space and time to explore, so there is no expectation to join in with everything.

  We have hosted people from many different countries over the past 15 years and really enjoy getting to know people from different backgrounds and cultures. Many of our Workawayers have become good friends and still stay in touch.
  Staying with us gives you the opportunity to experience everyday life in a large Irish family, while sharing meals, conversations and the occasional game or barbecue.
  We are also happy to share what we know about gardening, nature and the local area. There are always different projects going on, and depending on your interests you may have the opportunity to learn more about gardening, planting, DIY and practical projects.

  Aide

  We are looking for help with our gardens, house and occasionally with practical DIY projects.
  The work changes depending on the season and what projects we have going on at the time. This might include:
  Weeding and maintaining the vegetable garden
  Clearing brambles, ivy and other overgrown areas
  General gardening and maintenance
  Helping with practical DIY or building projects
  Cleaning and helping around the house
  We have a lot of animals, but animal care is rarely part of the Workaway role.
  Occasionally we may ask for help if something unusual is happening, but most of the time our Workawayers simply get to enjoy having the animals around
  We ask for 25 hours of help per week, usually 5 hours a day, 5 days a week. In return, we provide all food and accommodation, and enjoy welcoming people into our home and sharing a little of our family life with them.
  We’re looking for people who are genuinely interested in getting involved, happy to contribute their time and energy, and keen to experience life here in return.
  Some of the work, particularly clearing overgrown areas of the garden, can be physically demanding, so a willingness to get stuck in and enjoy practical work is important.
  You do not need to be an experienced gardener or builder. Enthusiasm, common sense and a willingness to get stuck in are more important. However, gardening, DIY or practical skills are always a bonus.
  
  We are a large family with children of different ages, so there will often be children around the house and garden.
  However, childcare is not part of the Workaway role.

  Hébergement

  We provide all food and accommodation in exchange for 25 hours of help per week.
  At present, Workawayers stay in a private double room in our family home or a newly built cabin in our garden. This is ideal for a couple, two friends travelling together, or a solo traveller.
  We usually cook dinner and enjoy eating together when everyone is around. Breakfast and lunch are more independent, and we provide food for you to prepare yourself.
  We generally have one or two Workawayers staying at a time, although occasionally there may be more.

  One of the things we love about living here is that we are surrounded by nature and countryside, but we are not completely isolated.
  We are around 3 km from Wicklow town and about a 20-minute walk from buses with connections to Wicklow town, Dublin, Arklow, Bray, Glendalough and Dublin Airport.
  Glendalough and the Wicklow Mountains are particularly easy to visit, with beautiful hiking, lakes and scenery.
  We are about an hour south of Dublin, so this can be a great base for exploring Wicklow and other parts of Ireland.
  We are always happy to help with ideas and information about places to visit.
