I have just returned from an unforgettable experience spent with Carin and Chris in Greenville, Texas, near Dallas. I cannot help but be enthusiastic about everything I experienced during my two weeks with them.
From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Carin, who showed me their magnificent home where I would be staying. Carin, Chris,
… read more and the rest of the family made me feel like part of their family from day one, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
The room I was given was exceptional, with all the necessary comforts and more! Located inside the house but with a private bathroom, it ensured privacy and tranquility throughout my stay.
I was able to manage my time according to my needs and also organize everything based on the unpredictable weather conditions, which are quite common here! I had the pleasure of cleaning, organizing, and rearranging the beautiful garden, also helping with some household chores and creating a vertical garden for aromatic plants.
To Carin and Chris's delight, I also got my hands in the kitchen, preparing lasagna and hand-made tagliatelle with Bolognese sauce with passion and dedication.
Additionally, I had the privilege of helping prepare the Easter lunch and participating in the same lunch with the whole family. We enjoyed together the delicacies prepared by Carin, creating an unforgettable moment of conviviality and sharing.
I also cannot forget the wonderful barbecue where I could taste sausages and steaks prepared with dedication by Chris on the grill, another meal we shared all together.
During my stay, I had the opportunity to participate in various social activities, such as bowling, dining at a typical restaurant with live country music, visiting Dallas, and attending an authentic Texan rodeo. I always felt included and welcomed, truly becoming part of the family.
I also had the fortune to witness the total solar eclipse on April 8th, visible only in a small fraction of the globe. From Carin and Chris's home, despite the clouds, I had a privileged view directly from the garden, making the experience even more extraordinary and memorable.
I am immensely grateful to Carin and Chris for the wonderful days spent together, and I will never stop thanking them for this incredible experience. I wish them and their family all the best, and if I ever return to the Dallas area, I will definitely visit them again to share more wonderful time together.

Where should I begin?
Carin and her family welcomed me into their home as if I were one of their own. From picking me up at the airport on the very first day, to taking me to various restaurants around Texas, and even arranging a day trip to the cowboy town of Fort Worth, they not only provided me with a complete Texan experience but also offered
… read more me a taste of South Africa. They introduced me to their friends, neighbours, and the authentic Texas way of life. Carin even took me to an Asian supermarket just so I could buy snacks and food items that reminded me of home!
The tasks I had to perform were never too difficult or complicated. They patiently taught me how to use a lawnmower, build a door, and paint a wall—things I had never imagined I could do before my stay. It really was an unforgettable experience and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I wouldn't trade for anything in the world!
They are truly the kindest people I have ever met, and it is because of people like them that the world becomes a better place.

After a few workaway experiences I can with certainty say Carin and Chris are one of the most hospitable hosts I had the pleasure of experiencing. Reading all these feedbacks was the first reason why I decided to move for more than one month to Greenville (about 6000 miles from my home). Since first day they really trust me to keep me alone in their house while they're working. They are really really kind and sunny people, they always took me everywhere to make all the possible experiences
… read more that I could do there, so it was really really funny and Home looked so close to me.
Carin is always sunny and laughing for my italian accent, Chris is a great family father and Hanco is like the crazy brother i've never had. Meet Waldo was so cool, unlikely only for one week. Well...staying there was so cool for everything, to improve my english, fishing, trying all american meals and drinks and especially for the ribeye at Southern Junction. Working at home wasn't difficult and boring, especially cleaning the pool. Now I know that I have to use the hottest water to clean the dishes!
I really want to see them again and soon as possible!!
Thanks for everythingVous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Matteo was our first Italian workaway and he set the bar very very high.
In the 3 weeks he spent with us he crept so deep in our hearts, and we miss him daily. Every task he worked on was done meticulously and with awesome happy music playing while Matteo sang at the top of his voice! He even created a list of Italian music I should download
… read more since I enjoyed his music so much.
Matteo and I enjoyed painting the trim and doors so much one evening that we totally forgot to look at the red moon. We had such lovely talks and lots of laughter while enjoying many wonderful meals he cooked for us and our friends.
It was a sad sad night when we had our farewell dinner for Matteo.
Matteo, our friends at Family Fellowship and Wessel ask about you all the time and like us they all hope you will come back to visit soon.
I will always remember your shopping spree, and you singing while sanding the wooden beams by the pool, and you swimming every afternoon in the Texas heat to stay in shape and cool down. Mostly I will always treasure your gentle heart always giving all of yourself.
Waldo and Hanco are looking forward to visit you in the Summer and I will be there soon too!
You are in our hearts forever.

Why there Are only 4 smiles??? I at least need 5 or 6 of them for rate Carin and her family!!!
I miss you so much !! I miss first of all the feeling that you feel every day in that house, since the first day ,i felt love and the desire to share their life with you in total.
After a week i felt completely at home , exept for the millions of

In Carin's house i felt protected , like the best of the mom does, helping me to travel, see things , do different stuff every day, helping me to organize that and simply, HAVE A SOLUTION FOR EVERYTHING I ASKED HER.
I felt and i'm still feeling so proud to met this family cause they gave me a lot, more than the think.
Im not sure i'll do another time workaway after her, but if you'r so lucky to stay in Carin's house, just be yourself and respectful and they 'll never refuse to share their lifes ,to help you and love you like a real son.
Can't wait to ser you again in italy...and full of desire to host you in my house and use my alter egos (mario, george) for pizza and drive;) i miss that :(

The time we had with our boy Michele was so much more than a workaway experience. Michele arrived just a week after another amazing Italian boy left our Texas home. At the time I felt there could not possibly someone to replace M. Well, Michele was a delight from the moment he arrived. A perfectly joyful and open individual with so much to share
… read more and so willing to learn.
He gave all of himself and crept deep into our hearts. He let us tease him, and feed him weird things, and he even allowed me to put Pineapple on a pizza.
He excelled at all the tasks he was given and you could see the job-pride while looking at his accomplishments.
We were lucky enough to have Michele here with two other workaways, and the consideration this young man showed in all he did was remarkable. (consideration for the girls' wishes/needs as well as us - his host family).
Michele helped with so much, including arranging for my own son who was inbetween workaways at the time, to stay with his family in Lucca, Italy. An experience none of us would ever forget. WE had endless Skype calls with the whole family and I got to see my son enjoying the love of his amazing family in Italy. A truly unique experience.
Michele has most certainly become an adoptive son in our family and sitting here now, I have to push back the tears thinking it will be so long before I see my George (driver) / Mario (pizza baker) again.
Michele is all his profile says, and so much more. I hope he never chooses workaway again, but rather just comes back to visit us each time. However, if he lands on your doorstep, count yourself blessed.

Our short time with Lisa and David was lovely! We learned alot about Sweden and the Swedish culture while enjoying the company of these two amazing young people. There are no words to describe our sadness when it came time to say goodbye after 2 months ... we really struggled, and still do. She has left a hole in our hearts and our home is so quiet without her laughter and participation in everything we do.

What an absolute pleasure it was for us to host Leon. He is an amazing young man who brought lots of laughter along with his "German Precision" work ethic. Leon was easy to get along with from the first moment we met at the airport, and it was with a heavy heart that we had to say goodbye (for now). Although we couldn't get him to line dance
