Description
Hi! I’m Eden, and I live on 100 peaceful, wooded acres in Northern California. One of my favorite things about this property is how much there is to explore. A trail winds for about a mile through the woods to a stunning boulder with incredible views of the forest for anyone feeling adventurous. Back at the house, the view opens up across the valley, where the sunsets are absolutely breathtaking.
I share the property with three dogs, three goats, two sheep, ten chickens, two ducks, and five cats. The animals are all very easygoing and spend their days outside enjoying the fresh air together. The dogs come and go from the house, while everyone else happily roams outdoors. One of my favorite things is watching how peacefully they all coexist. If you’re an animal lover, you’ll probably enjoy taking the dogs on walks through the property—and don’t be surprised if a few of the cats decide to tag along! If you’re confident and comfortable around animals, the goats love going on hikes too.
The house is comfortable, spacious, and set up for both relaxing and remote work. It has air conditioning, three comfortable bedrooms, newly remodeled bathrooms, a professional-grade stove, an open-concept kitchen and living room, TVs in every bedroom, reliable Wi-Fi, and everything you need whether you’re planning to work remotely or completely unplug and enjoy nature.
I love sharing this special place with people who appreciate animals, beautiful scenery, and the slower pace of country life. Whether you’re relaxing on the porch watching the sunset, exploring the trails, or spending time with the animals, I hope you’ll feel right at home here. -

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Living here is an opportunity to experience a slower, more connected way of life surrounded by nature and animals. Workawayers can enjoy the peaceful rhythm of rural living, caring for a small group of animals, spending time outdoors, and experiencing what it’s like to be surrounded by trees and open space.
Our town of Willits is small but has some wonderful local gems, including an amazing authentic sushi spot, a small movie theater, a brewery, and a great pub with live music and a lively community atmosphere including open mic nights every Wednesday. There’s also a wonderful natural food co-op, and within about an hour you can reach the breathtaking Mendocino Coast, including the beautiful towns of Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Workawayers are welcome to explore and take day trips or even an overnight trip—I can arrange for someone to check on the animals while you’re away. -

I’m looking for someone who loves being outdoors, has experience with animals, and doesn’t mind getting their hands a little dirty. This is a great fit for someone who genuinely enjoys nature, animals, and a slower pace of life.
The property and animals are set up on a very self-sufficient system, especially during the cooler months, so there is not a lot of daily tasks involved. The main responsibility is being a caring presence while I’m away—feeding the chickens, cats, and dogs once a day, making sure everyone has fresh water, giving the goats some pellets as an occasional treat, and simply spending time with the animals.
The most important part of this role is that the person staying here truly enjoys being around animals and nature. The animals don’t just need someone to complete a checklist—they thrive on attention, companionship, and interaction. Ideally, you’ll enjoy spending time with them daily, relaxing outside, and becoming part of their little community.
I would especially love someone who is excited about taking the dogs on walks. They don’t require walks for exercise since they happily explore the property, roam, and take care of themselves throughout the day, but they absolutely love the adventure and attention of going on a hike with a person.
Overall, this should be a very peaceful and enjoyable experience for someone who loves animals and wants to spend time immersed in nature. The biggest requirement is being responsible, comfortable around animals, and happy to simply be present with them. -

Hébergement
Workawayers will have a clean, secure, and comfortable private space in the downstairs level of the home, which includes two bedrooms, one bathroom, and an open concept kitchen and living room area. The living room features a big screen TV, and each bedroom also has its own TV. The space is fully set up for independent living and offers a relaxed environment surrounded by nature. If additional guests are part of the arrangement and discussed in advance, access to the upstairs master bedroom and bathroom can also be made available.

Autres infos...
There is plenty to enjoy during your free time! The property itself is a beautiful place to relax, explore, hike, read, paint, practice yoga, enjoy the sunsets, or simply spend time with the animals. The surrounding area has lots to discover, including hiking trails, rivers, swimming spots, local shops, farmers markets, and the incredible Mendocino Coast about an hour away.
A car is necessary, as there are no local Ubers or public transportation options. Having your own vehicle will allow you to explore Willits, nearby towns, and the coast at your own pace. If you’d like to take a day trip or overnight adventure, I can arrange for someone to check on the animals while you’re away.
A few things to know about staying here: this is a peaceful country property surrounded by nature, so you should enjoy a quieter lifestyle and be comfortable with wildlife, dirt, and the occasional unpredictability of rural living. We value keeping the home clean, respecting the private community roads, being extremely mindful of fire safety, and always prioritizing the animals’ safety and well-being. This is a great place for someone who enjoys slowing down, being outdoors, and feeling connected to nature. -

Espace pour garer des vans
We have plenty of space for parking if you’re comfortable driving down a dirt road. The road is well-maintained and not too difficult—even Priuses can make it. We do not have hookups or facilities.

Possibilité d'accueillir les animaux
Pets are welcome as long as they are friendly, well-behaved, and comfortable around other animals. Since there are already dogs, cats, goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks living here, it’s important that any visiting pets can safely coexist with a variety of animals or are ok being separated.
