Description
Hi! We are Bob and Eline, and together with our cat Nott and puppy Frodo, we live in Zeewolde. Next year, we plan to emigrate to northern Spain. Bob works full-time and Eline works two mornings a week. We're busy learning Spanish, raising our pup, and making small preparations for our move to Spain.
We live in a terraced house in a residential area with both a front and back garden, but that doesn’t mean we lack nature. Zeewolde is a village in the Flevopolder, right in the middle of the Netherlands. We’re just 200 meters from the beach and 500 meters from a forest. The natural surroundings here are beautiful, with lots of wildlife. There aren’t many nice pubs, shops or bars in Zeewolde (we’re not really the going-out types anyway), but cities like Utrecht, Amersfoort, and Zwolle are all less than an hour away by public transport.
I (Eline) have traveled a lot through WorkAway across Europe (and a bit beyond) and know how exciting — and at times nerve-racking — it can be. I’ve worked on farms with animals, done gardening in the countryside, and also helped out in a terraced house in a busy city. A bit of everything! I know better than anyone what can make a WorkAway a great experience, though of course that’s different for everyone…
We're not offering a typical WorkAway, so here are a few things you should know:
- We host for a maximum of about one week at a time.
- We have good public transport connections to cities, but it takes a bit more time as there’s only bus stations in town, not a train station.
- We live in a village, in a residential area, not on a farm — though we are very close to nature, of course!
- We appreciate assertiveness. You will be part of our family for some time, so we like it when you are pro-active. Think about cleaning after yourself, cooking for a day as well, walking the dog, etc. Just the ‘normal’ stuff you would do at your house, too.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

We’re social creatures in our own way. We’re not much into going out, but we really enjoy playing games, having meaningful conversations, cozy cocktail nights, dinner parties, etc. So for us, this WorkAway is also a cultural exchange. We find it important (and honestly just really fun as well) to open our home to others — not just for the good vibes, but also to learn from other people, languages, customs, and traditions.

As we mentioned before, we don’t offer a standard WorkAway. In and around the house, there are always tasks waiting that we don’t always get around to. I (Eline) get tired very quickly due to a chronic illness. The little projects I used to be able to do in a heartbeat now take twice or even three times as long. While we’re trying to come to terms with this new reality together, we try to not let it take too much of our mental energy. Life is a gift, life is an adventure, life is a playground.
So, the tasks that we have laying around! They will vary from time to time, but this will give you a general idea:
- We have a front and back garden that could use some attention — from tidying up to planting new greenery.
- A deep clean of the house, which I (Eline) would love to help you with.
- Sorting and organizing cupboards and cabinets.
- (If you speak Spanish, we’d be so thrilled! A bit of tutoring in Spanish is definitely something we’re looking for too.)
- Art projects, both indoors and outdoors — murals, upcycling little cabinets or tables, etc.
- Some sanding and painting window frames + doors
- Cooking.
- Walking/training the dog, he’s still a youngster.Langues

Hosting a Spanish speaking person would be awesome, but every language is welcome. Happy to teach you Dutch!Hébergement
We live in a nice house with three floors and a garden. You’ll have your own bedroom on the first floor with a double bed. You’ll share the bathroom with us, as well as all the other spaces in the house. Since Bob works full-time, he only joins for dinner. We share meals, but I (Eline) tend to sometimes skip lunch. There's always food in the house to your availability. We eat everything, but we’re more than happy to adjust our meals to suit your dietary preferences.

If you have troubles commuting to our house, we are very happy to pick you up from any bus or train station and even from the nearest airport.
