Description
We are building a hostel within an amazing 13-hectare finca using permaculture design techniques. We plan to create a hub for activity, adventure, fun and education within a unique mountain-jungle paradise and river beach.
This is a project in an entirely unique remote location within the foot-hills of the Sierra Nevada, close to a neighbouring indigenous town Quebrada del Sol. We are fortunate enough to have a 2-hectare fruit forest and 700m of the Buritaca river running along the outskirts of the property, with rapids, rock pools, natural swimming pools, cliff jumps and a beautiful private beach. We are located in a valley with unique mirador views of the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada.
We are a team of 3 environmentally conscious people, who have fled the London lifestyle to immerse ourselves in a different way of both living and thinking. We aim to make a lively hostel whilst providing a space to learn about sustainable ways of living.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

On site we have a friendly team of Colombian staff always keen to shat and share stories + frequently visiting neighbours from our local indigenous community. We also have volunteers from all over the globe so you’re not just stuck with brits!!
Colette has a PDC qualification where she accumulated a lot of knowledge around permaculture systems and sustainable design. We offer a permaculture farm tour to all volunteers.Aide
****CARPENTERS WANTED****
- People with carpentry experience who will be helping with a variety of carpentry tasks that we have here to complete the construction of the bar & restaurant.
In addition to the below, we are also looking for:
Social Media Guru
The 3 of us aren't too savvy on social media. We're looking for someone who can help us to create and publish content on our instagram page. This will include documenting progress here with bio-construction, permaculture projects, our pet pig and goat, nature, activites etc.
Gardening/Farmstay
We have used permaculture design principles to develop a design for the land but we are still in the early phases and our design and plans are constantly evolving, the more we learn about the land and from others. We are looking for volunteers who have experience in permaculture or agroforestry (ideally having completed a Permaculture Design Course) who are eager to put their skills in to practice, learn and share knowledge. We have Bruce the pig, Barbra the goat and many chickens on site - we are exploring ways in which we can best utilise their nutrients in our farm system
Next year we are looking to develop a community farming cooperative to support our neighbours in transitioning to more resilient regenerative farming methods, with the hope of opening a charity or foundation. We would gratefully receive any support/experience in this area.
As well as short term stays, we are interested in long term, where the person(s) will look to take significant control
over the running of the garden and have plenty of time to implement ideas and see them through to completion. With 13 hectares to play with and the early nature of the project, this role has a lot of scope for creativity, experimentation and influence in it's design. We are open-minded and always eager to learn from others about innovative and sustainable ways of doing things
We have recently built a raised mandala vegetable garden and look for help in planting and maintaining the vegetables in this.
Building
- We have renovated an existing 7 bedroom traditional Colombian farm house which we and volunteers now live in and have completed the build of a compost toilet and shower block. We have a nursery and veg garden and have a natural water system from a mountain spring that we use for drinking and irrigation. We have built various cabins in bamboo and local palm leaf and are also close to completing the build of a river-side bar and restaurant. To reduce our environmental impact and make use of the abundance in the region, we have built primarily with clay using our own brick press. We are currently at the fitting out phase and looking for handy volunteers to help with this!
Help with Eco Project
- We are 3 environmentally conscious individuals looking to build and live in a way that values and respects the resources available on the land whilst reducing our environmental impact. We are constantly exploring innovative ways to reduce and reuse our waste (and welcome any creativity) to achieve our goal as a zero waste business. We have built 2 sets of compost toilets but are looking to build a 3rd set. We are off-grid and 100% powered by solar energy. Our next projects will be to build a worm farm to break down our kitchen waste and a bio-digester to generate our own gas. Experience in any of these are very welcome!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you don't have any experience of the above please still get in touch if you would wish to be a part of our project, we are always happy to welcome people with good energy and are happy to get their hands dirty :)Langues

We are now living in our renovated traditional farm house and you'll be living in either one of two 8 bedroom dorms, a 4 bed dorm or 3 private rooms, each fitted with a fan. Typically we have at least 20 people staying with us at one time.
We have finished the build of our compost toilets and shower block, however the river is a stones throw away and is often the preferred option!
We have 2 large solar systems - one for the bar and one for the house. Around the house we have WiFi and charging stations, however we have chosen to leave the bar/dining (100m away from the house) a WiFi free zone as a place to disconnect, socialise and play pool or other games!
All food will be provided free of charge to all volunteers. We also usually have plenty of beers, spirits and wine available which you can buy for a small fee to help cover costs.Autres infos...
The land is filled with natural beauty with howler monkeys, aguillas, toucans and plenty of spots for walking, swimming and relaxing.

Podemos comenzar esta reseña diciendo que todo lo que escribimos aquí no será suficiente para decir lo maravilloso que fue este lugar para nosotros.
