    Description

A unique mountainous homestay offering unforgettable experiences in Sri Lanka

Our homestay is located in Narangala, surrounded by mountains, timber trees, forests, waterfalls, natural ponds, and peaceful nature trails. It’s a place where words hardly do justice to the beauty around you.

Staying here offers a deep nature experience — you can hear birds chirping, waterfalls flowing, and the sounds of the forest even from your bedroom. It’s completely away from city life and perfect for those seeking calm and connection with nature.

My mother prepares simple, delicious home-cooked meals and provides three meals a day, along with tea and other drinks whenever you wish.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

Meeting people, cultural programs in the villages, teaching to children in the nearby schools, helping to grow tourism etc.
I work as a teacher of English in a government school, so I have the chances to take the guests to the school without any issues! And of course many people know me well in my surrounding villages, so I can take the guests to the functions and the occasions take place in the area, and to the churches, temples, cultural activities , even to the the houses if we need.

Narangala Mountain is one of the tallest and most beautiful mountains in Sri Lanka. Our homestay is located very close to it, surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. This area is rich with tall mountains, rocky hills, caves, waterfalls, natural ponds, forests, tea estates, camping spots, and many stunning viewpoints.

Our dream is to build a perfect nature-blended home, where guests can truly feel connected to the environment. Mountains, waterfalls, forests, and natural ponds are all within walking distance from the house, creating a peaceful and authentic village experience.

As a Workawayer, you’ll have the freedom to help design and decorate the surroundings through creative ideas and open conversations with us. Activities may include:
    • Building stone paths leading to natural ponds
    • Planting colorful flowers and other plants
    • Creating and improving sitting areas to enjoy sunsets
    • Helping with simple painting work

    Current Priority Work

At the moment, our main priority is building a stone wall to protect the soil and create extra space in the courtyard for a sitting area. I have already collected plenty of black stones, so stone wall builders or people comfortable with physical outdoor work are especially welcome.

    Other Possible Tasks

Depending on time, weather, and your interests, work may also include:
    • Clearing water canals to ensure smooth mountain water flow
    • Making stone paths and sitting areas
    • Clearing and sweeping walking paths
    • Painting walls and the roof
    • Helping my mom with cooking
    • Washing towels, bedsheets, and blankets (sometimes in the nearby river)
    • Arranging and organizing indoor and outdoor spaces
    • Sweeping the courtyard
    • Planting flowers, weeding, and general garden care

This is a nature-immersed, hands-on experience, ideal for people who enjoy outdoor work, simple village life, and contributing to a meaningful project surrounded by mountains and forests.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

Our homestay is simple, peaceful, and nature-based, located in the Narangala mountain area. Volunteers will stay in a private room inside the main house. The house is spacious, allowing free movement and use of common areas when they are not occupied by other guests.

The surrounding property offers plenty of open outdoor space, ideal for relaxing, walking, and enjoying the natural environment.

At present, the bathroom and toilet are separated in the next house, which volunteers will need to use. There are plans to build a private bathroom next to the volunteer room in the future, and part of the current work contributes to this improvement.

We aim to provide a safe, respectful, and culturally immersive environment, and we welcome open communication to ensure mutual comfort during the stay.

    Autres infos...

I have a building surrounded by mountains in Narangala. Narangala is already famous for its mountains. Now I need to renovate that, making it more pleasant! So gardening work, some of the construction work, artistic work targeting the tourists would be nice!
