Description
Our big nest sits on top of a deep valley on 8 acres of land. We are in North Auckland, right after the suburbs become bush.
Our neighbors of all ages are our extended family and pop over occasionally.
My friends call me Ja. I like holding fire circles, gym & sauna, bhakti yoga, chanting, ecstatic dance, herbal tea and jamming -

I run a seasonal astrotourism project presenting the planets, showing the stars and weaving mythology with tourists. Together we reflect on space, time, and Rā (Papa Sun)
If we get a clear night sky we can set up some cushioning on the roof for an informal astrotour & star gazing sesh ✨
My mum grew up on a marae (tribal village) and through my own relationship with Papatuānuku (Mama Earth), I intend to regrow Eden in Aotearoa (NZ) within my lifetime
My part to play is for the biodiversity, against the industrial deforestation of Tāne (trees, birds, bees). I can't do this alone and need more hands to cultivate the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible -

I have been teaching kids gardening at a public school and now preparing our own land for what's next - come dream with us!
Learn permaculture propogating veggie and herb seedlings, living seasonally alongside the moon calendar, care for plants, chickens, and occasionally my 6yo boy Galileo
If you know a recipe or two we can test on how to integrate the organic exotic ingredients around our place
You will also be helping me cultivate my 2 acres of grass and bush I call Earth Embassy. Currently planting for succession with sunflowers and food trees
Your work week is maximum 20 hours. We'll be in regular comms around what kind of jobs feel right for you. We're big on balancing the work-rest-play pieces and take lots of breaks.
In short I'm seeking creative, earthy humans to cocreate a little village for a while -

We have many options for private and common spaces - lounge, kitchen, bathroom, decks, gardens, bush
Food wise I can supply unlimited bulk staples like cereals, eggs, rice, beans, potatoes, milk, cream, oil. And grow plenty of leafy greens and herbs onsite. By default we'd prepare our meals separately but very open to collaborate on dinner when it flows -

We did four hours of work each day of various jobs in his garden. His place is very calm and relaxing, after the buzz of the city. We had some great chats and Josh was easy to get along with, with heaps of knowledge about the plant world and sustainable farming! We also had a … read more
Joshua picked us up from the bus station and we had an easy start. It was a reasonable amount of work for accommodation and food. There was enough time to go on our own andventure or on a trip with him and his son.
Also we really enjoyed watching the stars from the rooftop.
