Moin from Baltrum!
We are Merle and Ben, a laid-back family who loves life on the car-free North Sea island of Baltrum. Our two little boys, Ibbo (almost 4) and Henk (almost 2), are happy little explorers who love to play and discover nature.
We run a vacation rental business, a restaurant, and a café here – all with a small, well-coordinated team. Our daily life is diverse, and we’re looking for your support to provide our boys with a loving and joyful environment while we work.
Baltrum is a special place: small, idyllic, and completely car-free. Cycling is a great skill to have to explore the island at a relaxed pace. In the meantime, you can enjoy the tranquility of nature, the beach, and the sea.

Baltrum is a little paradise in the middle of the Wadden Sea – a car-free island where everything runs at a relaxed pace. Whether you're chilling on the beach, exploring by bike, or simply enjoying the fresh sea breeze, this is the perfect place to unwind without worrying about traffic, crowded streets, or noisy city life.
There are plenty of playgrounds, and the island is very child-friendly overall. But there’s also something for young people: youth clubs, kite and surf schools, SUP and kayak rentals – and, of course, beach parties and other fun events. Most of those are hosted by us, so you’re definitely in the right place. 😉

Aide
Your primary responsibility will be to support us in the afternoons and evenings by taking care of our two boys or occasionally looking after them on your own. Playing, crafting, painting, kneading, puzzling – all the fun activities! But, of course, tidying up afterward is also important.
You’ll help prepare dinner and assist with bedtime around 8 PM. Every two nights, we give the boys a bath – in summer, this might be needed daily when they come back from the beach covered in sand and salt. We’d love to have your help with that as well.
In total, you’ll work a maximum of 6 hours per day, and the mornings are completely free for you while the kids are at kindergarten.

Your Accommodation on Baltrum
You will have your own fully equipped private apartment, ensuring comfort and privacy during your stay. The apartment includes a bathroom with a shower, a large double bed, a TV, and a private terrace where you can relax and enjoy the fresh sea air.
We also provide a personal bicycle for easy island exploration and offer various discounts at partner businesses, including surf and kite schools, SUP rentals, cafés, and bars.
Baltrum offers a peaceful and nature-rich environment, perfect for unwinding. While you’ll be part of our family life, you’ll also have plenty of free time in the mornings to enjoy the island at your own pace.
