I welcome independent, self-reliant global travelers to my suburban Rotorua base. On offer is a warm, comfortable, fully self-contained bedsit / sleepout / garden house in exchange for focused, targeted assistance to maintain and organize the property and my possessions, and to improve my quality of life.

Rotorua is a world-renowned tourist mecca famous for Māori cultural experiences, geothermal attractions, and outdoor adventures.
A past career with the NZ foreign service allowed me to travel extensively worldwide. Today my lifestyle is anchored to highly structured timelines associated with global consulting commitments. I enjoy sharing my home with travellers - this brings a special diversity of minds and experiences and perspectives to me that fuel my rocket!
I value privacy and independence. This exchange is best suited to autonomous travelers. For me, a true cultural exchange is an intellectual and human partnership, not an entertainment or recreational activity. I measure the value of an exchange by the extent to which there is mutual trust, shared, aligned, respected, or compatible perspectives, and most importantly a mutual appreciation for broadening cultural horizons. While I maintain a highly focused schedule, I am always happy to share local knowledge to help guests make the most of their stay in Rotorua and for their journey throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. -
Aide
This premium self-contained accommodation is available in exchange for 2 hours of focused daily assistance per person (14 hours p/w). Helpers buy and prepare their own food.
Start and finish times are entirely flexible to ensure you have full days free to explore. My workspace is systematically organized around absolute utility. Upon arrival, I provide a precise, master to-do list—including housekeeping, property maintenance, and digital layout support. You have the total freedom to independently select tasks that perfectly match the weather, your interests, and your genuine abilities. -

Please note that I am highly introverted and frequently immersed in deep-work incubation cycles for my business. If it is essential for you to spend your free time being actively entertained by a chatty host family in an upscale social environment, this is NOT the correct fit for your journey. My home is custom-built for independent, autonomous travelers who value privacy, respect quiet professional spaces, and appreciate a premium night's sleep.
For your logistics, a major supermarket, local takeaway outlets, and a transit bus stop on Fairy Springs Road (SH5) are located just a few minutes' walk from the driveway. The Skyline Luge Gondola is clearly visible from the property. -

There is a 240V mains hook-up outlet on the exterior of your accommodation. Only vehicles with an NZ Electrical Standards compliant power cable may use this outlet. I now use Wireless Nation for mobile internet data in my own motorhome so there is now no unlimited fibre wifi. BYO data.

Caro is just wonderful, so warmhearted and she made me feel home from the very first moment. The home is lovely with lots of personality, a comfortable bed and a very cute dog. Caro is always interested in your comfort and lets you choose from different types of light work, so you can have plenty of time to explore Rotorua and the surrounding.

I had a super stay in Caroline's house. Caroline warmly welcomed me at 8.00 am as I left my couchsurfing.
