Hey I am Joe! I am a Scottish native with a masters degree in mechanical engineering. New Orleans is my much loved, adopted home, where I stay with my son. I have a wide range of interests, from climbing and soccer (football) to astronomy and carpentry.
I have a son and I am very busy so having an extra pair of hands just to help out is super helpful! If you talk French that would also be amazing because I'm trying to learn!
The help amount needed would only be on average a few hours in and allowing plenty of time to integrate in to the local community.
Workawayers in the past have joined sports clubs, dance clubs, language clubs and all other manner of local community activities in between the house help. So definitely lots of time to pursue your own interests and passions. -

A chance to experience the real New Orleans and help outside, learning new skills. I love showing travelers our city. Just google New Orleans, there is a silly amount of great things to experience here.
I also have a range of skills from finance, carpentry and many sports that I am always enthusiastic to teach (and to learn from) others.
You will have lots of free time to integrate with the local community! -
Aide
As above, an extra pair of hands for light projects like painting sometimes needed, and general help because I'm quite busy. It requires consistency. dependability and attention to detail - but the help is not difficult! Also really looking to get better at French if you have that language (I talk it pretty good already).
Not looking for someone who is already living in the city or has a job etc. I am very much in to the traveler exchange part of workaway, so this is only open to someone who is a traveler. -

Your own room in our family home, with all utilities and wifi.
In exchange I offer a semi-private room (utilities included) with a shared bathroom in the Bywater, New Orleans - right off the St Claude arts corridor. A walkable area, Bywater is home to record and antiques shops, storied music venues, laid-back gin joints, and a growing gallery scene. -

I trusted them both and it is clear they have a really good work ethic. Definitely recommend them to any other hosts. I was grateful they chose to stay with me for a bit!

We had a great time at Joe’s house in New Orleans!! We shared the house with other workawayers, got to know the local culture and spent the wonderful time listening to music in this city full of musicians and artists!! We couldn’t have had a better first experience with Workaway! Highly Recommended

Sheila ran my place for me while I was out of town (and sometimes while I was in town). She handled everything amazingly. She is so trustworthy and responsible.
