The property is part of an old sheep station, originally established in the 1800's and is situated at the base of an historic mountain for the local Maori tribes. The owner is committed to re-establishing NZ native bush and fauna and creating a place of beauty with the aim of not only becoming completely self-sufficient but also being able to share the experience of a natural environment with paying guests to relax and unwind in and come away with a better understanding of the effect of humankind on the natural world.

New Zealand is a unique eco-system with some of the oldest creatures known, still living in our environment. You will be able to better your English speaking skills, advance your gardening and self-sufficiency knowledge and meet fellow workawayers. You will be making a contribution to mitigating the effects of global heating.
We are establishing a food forest, ecological garden and self catering farmstay business, in short a mini organic paradise, in the middle of a traditional rural, farming area, on the east coast of the Wairarapa, in New Zealand. Anyone with permaculture, syntropic permaculture, willingness, enthusiasm and a passion for nature's survival, is welcome to come and stay and contribute their labour and skills to help get this 58ha thriving. The climate is Mediterranean in summer and mild in winter and there are fantastic surfing and swimming beaches 20 mins away, as well as spring water spa pools and a mineral and ozone treated swimming pool.

Very comfortable bunkhouse accommodation, king single size mattresses - spa pool, firepit and well equipped kitchen, and bbq facilities. All linen and food is supplied for self catering.
Hiking and walking in NZ native bush, local wineries, some wild beaches, seal colonies, fishing and diving, swimming and surfing. You will need your own transport as this is a very rural area. Use of a community tennis court and local bar.
