Description
Looking for a single, couple or 2 friends together, energetic, for all sorts of tasks in country life: Housework,gardening, feed chickens ,firewood, and general tidying up around the property. At the moment we are also looking specifically for people who can lift things as we are sorting several sheds, moving furniture around etc.. Our home is a heritage property and we want to preserve it well. Good English speakers, long term stayers preferred, we look for helpers year round.
You will stay in your own independent cottage with free unlimited internet. We have great views of Mt Hutt and Alps. We are 45 mins from Christchurch and 25 to Mt Hutt skifields. Great tourist area area here with skiing, bush walks, rivers (the mighty Rakaia) lakes etc
We have had workawayers from various parts of the world for many years now and we really enjoy meeting people. Our children have left home, we have grandchildren, one of us is a teacher of languages, the other a builder and we own a luxury lodge with also three houses for guests who want self-catering accommodation .
We cannot take smokers. If you are squeamish or 'delicate' this is not the place for you, we are in the country, totally rural NZ high country.
There is no public transport where we are, so having your own vehicle is essential if you want to go and explore the countryside and general tourist area we are in. It is New Zealand.

Please note we ask an average 3 hours help a day per person as listed in the profile in Workaway. No meals are provided, you do your own and the cottage has all equipment.This is a total of15 hrs max which can be spread over several days or combined so that you can go off and do things as well, we are flexible but do not like slackers.

your own independent little cottage -keeping your rooms clean is not part of your work time please, it is normal daily living and general courtesy.
We expect a 15 hrs work a week in exchange for good accommodation- no meals are provide, you do your own although from time to time you might be invited to dine with us!

no smokers and no vegetarians please, no special diets or fussy eaters.There is no pubic transport to our place, we are totally rural,nearest bus is Darfield or Methven 27km away. Lots of peace and quiet here, great views of mountains and walks, skiing, fishing, landscape,landscape, landscape.

Simonetta and Gary are amazing hosts.
The work is different every day, it's never to hard and you can learn a lot about making beds, setting up tables correctly and cooking.
