  About Us and the Project
  
  Hi! I'm Lauren – Our home is in between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, in a place called Ormeau. It is a suburban area that is minutes from shops and the M1 for easy access to Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
  
  We’re opening up our granny flat for Workawayers who would love to experience life in a peaceful Australian setting while lending a hand with small projects around the home, garden and sometimes with our gorgeous dog.
  
  Why You’ll Love It Here
  *You'll have a one bedroom granny flat to yourself- with your own kitchen, bathroom and lounge room. We have a lovely pool you're welcome to use.
  *We're really close to the theme parks and not far from the beach.
  *Neat, private and clean place to base yourself from.
  
  Who You’ll Be Around
  I live in the main house with my 5 year old son and sometimes my partner and our dog Violet. We live between QLD and Sydney, so some weeks I'm in Sydney and you'd be looking after Violet.
  
  We’d love to host Workawayers who are respectful and kind.

  As a Workawayer here, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Australian life from a local perspective .
  
  We’d love to hear about your own culture, traditions, and life experiences too – whether it's sharing a favourite recipe, telling us about your hometown, or simply chatting over a cup of tea.
  
  Our local community is friendly and multicultural, and you're welcome to explore nearby markets, national parks, and beaches. If you're keen to immerse yourself further, I can help you find local events or activities that suit your interests.
  
  Hosting Workawayers is a way for us to stay connected to the wider world and create small, positive exchanges that leave lasting impressions – and we hope it does the same for you.

  Aide

  We live on a standard 600m² block –, it’s not a farm or anything wildly exciting like that, but it’s a clean, quiet and comfortable base to explore both the Gold Coast and Brisbane. With easy access to beaches, bushwalks, cafes, and public transport, it’s a great spot for Workawayers who want a peaceful place to stay while still being close to city life and coastal adventures.
  
  We’re looking for help with:
  - Minding our lovely dog when we’re away in Sydney (usually for a week at a time)
  - Basic gardening – mostly weeding and weed spraying
  - General house cleaning – just regular upkeep
  
  If you have experience painting interior walls, that’s a bonus but definitely not essential.
  
  We ask for 3 hours of help a day, 5 days a week, in exchange for your own private accommodation in our self contained granny flat.

  Please note that meals are not included, but you’ll have everything you need to cook for yourself.

  You’ll be staying in a clean, fully self contained granny flat on our property. It has its own private entrance, bedroom with a queen bed, bathroom, kitchen, lounge area, and you'll share laundry facilities with the main house. The space is comfortable, secure, and ideal for someone who values a bit of independence and privacy.
  
  The flat is equipped with:
  - Air conditioning
  - Unlimited fast internet
  - Off-street parking
  - Smart TV
  
  All basic furnishings, linen, and towels provided
  
  You’ll have your own kitchen to prepare meals, as meals are not included, but the local supermarket is just a few minutes away, and the kitchen is stocked with cookware, crockery, and everything you need to cook comfortably.
  
  The granny flat is completely separate from the main house, so you’ll have peace and privacy, while still being close enough to connect when needed.
  
  There is a pool in the backyard you are welcome to use.

  In your free time, there’s plenty to explore nearby. Ormeau is a peaceful suburb with easy access to both the Gold Coast and Brisbane – perfect for weekend adventures. We’re just a short drive from beautiful beaches, bushwalks, waterfalls, and local attractions like theme parks and wildlife sanctuaries. There’s also a train station close by with regular services to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast, making transport easy even if you don’t have a car.
  
  We live a fairly quiet, relaxed lifestyle and value cleanliness, kindness, and clear communication. While we’re not rigid, we do ask that you respect the home environment by keeping noise to a minimum and maintaining the granny flat in a tidy condition.
  
  As this is a non smoking property, we ask that smoking or vaping not occur anywhere on the premises.
  
  We love animals, nature, and simple living – and we welcome Workawayers who are reliable, respectful, and independent, with a genuine love of dogs and a calm energy.
  
  We look forward to hosting someone who will enjoy the space, the dogs, and the chance to be part of a warm and easygoing home environment – even just for a little while.

  Our place is well-suited for digital nomads who need a quiet, comfortable base to get work done. The granny flat has unlimited fast internet, a dedicated table, and excellent mobile coverage. It’s peaceful, private, and ideal if you need to take video calls, write, or focus on online projects. The help we ask for is flexible and can usually be scheduled around your remote work hours – as long as the tasks are completed reliably each day. When we’re away and need help with dog minding, we’ll give you plenty of notice so you can plan accordingly. If you’re looking for a calm environment with space to work, rest, and contribute a few hours a day, this could be the perfect fit
