We are a group of friends creating a farm cooperative and intentional community in Salem, SC. Currently we are focused on people, building positive relationships, and growing our community group. We have two properties with a wide variety of projects happening at both locations.
The Farm is 20 acres, mostly covered by hardwood forest, a few acres of pines, and 3 acres of pasture. There is a spring flowing out of a completely forested watershed, which feeds a small creek running through the center of the property. Currently we are mostly working on repairing outbuildings, making repairs and improvements to the farmhouse, managing the fields and forest , harvesting natural building materials, building soil, and planning the keyline system for water management.
In October 2021 we purchased a 3 acre property 5 miles from the farm. We are working on site mapping and creating a community plan for the property. We have already started working to implement our half acre food forest and nursery. In spring of 2022 we will be building several small cabins using primarily natural and salvaged materials. We will also be hosting a series of natural building workshops in 2022, we'll be in need of much help preparing for workshops and finishing natural building projects.
We invite volunteers to stay from 3 nights to 15 days (a longer stay could be discussed after we get a better chance to get to know each other) . We ask for 4 hours of volunteer work per night stayed. Most work takes place over the weekend Thursday through Monday. We definitely want guests to take time to explore nearby lakes and local hiking trails.
Guests will have access to a kitchen and healthy foods. We don’t follow a set diet but we can try to accommodate the requests of guests if you let us know your needs. We have space for tent camping, space for van parking and small RVs (we may be able to provide electricity depending on where you choose to park) We have an open guest room at the 3 acre property and there is also space in the bunk room.
The properties are currently privately owned, our vision is to establish a cooperative association which would enable our members to own property together. We enjoy sharing what we are learning from this community effort and would love to share information with you. We have lots of ideas for the cooperative and creating natural spaces.

We are working to create an intentional community here in our community. Over the next year we will be creating a one acre food forest. We will be building several natural structures, using natural buildings to transform the property to create a place of creative, education, and peacefulness. Travelers can see the beginning of a small land project, be part of the planning process, and learn more about building with natural materials.
Come help us plant our one acre food forest. We are also planning out several small structures that will be constructed using natural and recycled materials. We will be looking for natural building interns to help us with building projects in 2022. We also plan to host several workshops to help educate others and build community.
Currently Projects - 10/20/2021
- building an outdoor wood fired kitchen
- clearing fallen trees from the woods
- Planning structures, building foundations, wood framing

Currently we have one guest room available in the main house, camping is also an option for those that desire more personal space. We will be constructing an off grid cabin in the near future for guests.
We are located in the Foothills of South Carolina near two beautiful lakes, there are several hiking trails within 20min. from the house and many waterfalls to explore within an hour drive.

We have several remote workers in our community and are always working towards creating more space for remote workers.
We can make space for camper vans and small RVs, we may even be able to proved some hookups in the near future. Larger RVs and motorhomes may have trouble getting in our driveway.
We don't have any pets currently. We'll probably have chickens come spring.
