Au Pair Wanted – Family of 4 in Rural Portugal (Room & Board + Pay)
We're a friendly, easy-going expat family living near São Pedro do Sul, in Northern-Central Portugal. Our organic, off-grid home & farm is part of a small village in the Portuguese countryside. It is a peaceful, wild place, perfect for someone who loves the outdoors, hiking, and a slower pace of life away from the city.
We have a happy, energetic & intelligent 3-year-old little boy, and are expecting the arrival of our baby girl very soon. We're looking for someone enthusiastic, warm, and reliable to join our little family as a live-in au pair to help us through this exciting new chapter for a couple months this winter (and possibly longer if it's a good fit for everyone!)

We are a cross-cultural family/village group of all ages with diverse life, travel, and volunteer experiences; knowledge in permaculture, agroforestry, soil science, homesteading, eco-living, herbalism, French/world cooking, fermentation, animal husbandry, nutrition , meditation, etc.
In the warm months, the farm is a busy place where we host many volunteers who come to learn about organic farming and homesteading. Winter is our time to rest and recharge.
The farm is part of a small traditional Portuguese village with a few older people still living the old way& another expat family we collaborate with who are also building up their project nextdoor.
We’re part of a vibrant international community of expats living in the region with many fun & diverse events happening regularly.
The farm also backs up to a vast mountain wilderness with pure rivers, hiking trails, and picturesque views. -

Aide
The role:
Around 5 hours of your help per day, (weekends free) to help us with the following:
- Spending fun, creative time with our 3 year-old son (without the use of screens ;)
- briefly watching our baby while mom takes a few moments to care for herself
- Light housework such as vacuuming, laundry, cleaning, tidying up toys etc
- Helping with cooking & meal prep
Who we're looking for:
- Someone who loves children, is patient, kind and trustworthy
- Fluent in English or French
- Enthusiastic & creative around children
- Flexible & adaptable to a casual family & co-living home environment
- Some prior experience with young children is a plus, but not essential — a genuine love for kids matters most
- Someone who will enjoy the quiet village life during the cozy winter months when it can be quite cold & rainy outside. -

Hébergement
In exchange for your help, we offer complete room & board, plus a monthly stipend. You will have a private room in our comfortable family home, with a good bed and peaceful vibes. Awake to the gentle sound of rain falling and the birds singing outside your window from their trees.
We eat healthy, whole foods (including fish & meat), choosing bio options when possible. We are good cooks and expect to share most meals together as a family with our au pair.
Outside, our 4ha farm is a beautiful place with an incredible view and endless nature awaits your exploration. A mountain stream flows in our hidden valley, and the winter mists which drift by are truly enchanting.
